Relation with AI

Is it possibly to hide the relation with the AI from the start? I realize that after researching diplomatic translator I could interact with all races even I don’t know them at all. Is this a realistic scenario?

I think the foreing stat shouldnt dispaly the race that you didnt meet but only with the "blind exploration" option on ...
