Tech support advice for older system

memory leak?

I really enjoy the game, but I tend to only play shorter games on medium sized maps or smaller. The reason is, I have a 4 year old PC (cutting edge at the time) and after about an hour of gameplay, things slow down to a crawl. Occasionally it gets so bad the game almost locks up (2 minutes to respond to ALT-F4), and once or twice I got a warning message about too much system memory in use. A reboot usually helps greatly.

So.... is there any one thing about the game (maybe in graphics settings) that is a real memory hog? Perhaps disabling some fancy schmancy graphics might lower the system resource requirements. Any advice is appreciated, thx!

Turn the graphics options off, and post a debug.err so we can get some system specifics.

You could always switch to tactical view and play there. Just zoom out or lower the tactical zoom setting to a smaller number. The graphics get replaced with icons and the game works pretty normally, with a few minor annoyances thou. It's how I play most of my larger games on my old laptop.

My computer was bought autumn 2002. It costed 2600 euro at that time, and the only problem with my computer was with Oblivion.

Oblivion is a beast even after doing a bunch of tweaking.
