Setting a new flag ship?

So I've just built a shiny new battleship and I'd like to set it as my flag ship - how do I do that?

Your flagship at the beginning has no special features, its just called a flagship for flavour reasons.

I always give special names to the first ships of a new design. It makes me care more about keeping them alive.

I name all my capital and survey/exsplorer ships. Easier for me to keep track of names than numbers. Fighters and "one use" ships (Colony Ships, constructors, etc.) I usually don't bother with. Exception being when a handful of fighters survive long enough to level up a few times, then I name them and lump them into a elite squadron.

Ok thanks - I must have been a bit confused. I thought that there was something in one of the tech trees that said something like "Starbases can now be flag ships" or whatever which got me mixed up. Having said that it was pretty late and I could have been hallucinating ....

Flagships do nothing. And yes, calanoid, you did see that tech. It just means that no your starbases own all other ships
