new harmonies

The coffee,
I pour,
always slighty above the rim of the mug,
well above recommended temperature,
I drink from the rim,
with the accompanied slupring sound followed by my exhaulted:
ahhh,
venting the scarred roof of my mouth and throat.

I don't lose my heat so quickly and longer,
I retain drive and concentrated pedal strokes,
and sing notes,
well out of my range.

I always wanted to be a thick-chest-haired protruding bass,
but I was doomed to be a tenor,
who can't read music.

Now I write tabs,
and sing harmonies with favorite songs,
as if my contribution to them makes them even better.

I think Mark Sandman would appreciate that,
but not nearly as much as I am thankful for him,
and his monotone jazz voice,
and two-string bass.

I've got 4 and I still can't keep up,
but I still sing the harmonies he never got to hear,
to busy making a point,
to make art that I hear,

just like the slurping sound from the rim of the mug,
ahhh.
