I was having a with the program being unable to load save games more than once or twice. i was able to start a new game , then go back and reload a older save and start playing again. That worked for about a week, then i had to reinstall just to play at all. I have loaded the smart exception sofware but that never picked up anything. So while uninstalling and reinstalling for the thrid time and considering how to get my money back, I was thinking hard and decided to try a different approach. my system has 2 EIDE hard drives that I use for a C: (operating system) and D: (storage) and one SATA hard drive (G:), also for storage. I was saving and installing the game using the G: drive. The error I was seeing seemed to contain alot of refernces to files of ship designs that couldn't be found or loaded. I decided to to load and run the game from my C: drive and have been crash free so far. Hardly a scientific deduction but it seems to work. Don't know if the game doesn't like being run from anything other than the c: drive or if it is a problem with the game interacting with the SATA drive.
