How do I break an Alliance with a Minor Race

I have allied with the "Dark Yor". But I now fear, that someone conquers them. I also need more planets to be able to impress the real Yor, who are getting stronger and stronger thanks to my stupid Ally, the Korx, who simply did not invade that Iconian planet until the Yor declared war and took it. Before I had to pay the Iconians to stop fighting the Dark Yor.

Since I think the Iconians will be conquered by the Yor, while hoping the Korx get something of them too, I, however need to ensure the Dark Yor planet does not fall into the hands of the Yor by taking it myself.

I have found how to unally with a major race but I just cant seem to find that feature for the minor. As long as I am allied, it won't let me attack them!

I find that if you have more than one ally, at leat one will declare war against your minor race ally, prompting you to pick a side. Pick the major and wipe out the minor race scum! particularly if they're Paulos! i made the mistake of letting them live to long with my silly notions of compassion, resulted in a bloody fight for their homeworld as they did have battle ships.

The Korx won't attack the Dark Yor. I tried to offer them a lot of stuff and they still asked, if I was kidding them.

But I shouldn't have to do it that way, it must be possible somehow, otherwise this is really flawed and should be fixed.

@ 3xman: I don't know if there's another way too but you can end the alliance on the Relations-Screen, by checking the "Break Alliance" checkbox just below their portrait and the espionage-slider.

Why don't you bribe the yor to attack them? then when the game prompts you to help the minor race say no, that will break the alliance and free you upto attack them.

so you have tried sending a fleet to attack them?

Yes, that's where I got the message to first break my Alliance.

Bribing the Yor could but probably won't help. When the Dark Yor were at war with the Iconians and I signed peace with the Iconians, they did not bother to ask me to reenter that war.
The Korx also did not ask for help with the Iconians nor were they annoyed for me making peace.

What happens if you go to them every 2-3 turns demanding tribute?

I'm pretty sure there is an option to break a minor race alliance. I don't have the game at work though. I think it's on their main description page. If not, try dialogue menu.

They consider it as asking for help and not actually tribute. They won't break the alliance for that.

What do you mean when speaking of their main description page? I am on the "Minor Race"-Tab of the Foreign Policy menu. There is a button for trade embargo but it does nothing (obviously because of the alliance). In the dialogue menue I've not found a point such as break alliance or declare war.

In the "foriegn policy" screen, click the break alliance button.

EDIT: I just checked this, and it doesn't work. It seems to only work with the major races. But yes, the break alliance button should have shown up where the trade embargo button is. Sorry...

Maybe try a trade embargo, followed by around a dozen or so influence starbases positioned within spitting distance of their world, would do the trick.

Trade embargo doesn't work... I can click the checkbox but it won't check... guess it's because we're allied.

Well, the game is over already. And that without the minor race beeing conquered. The new gang up against the biggie-feature of the latest patch led to everyone against the Yor. I then just had to ally with the others and so had won.
