Ok well since I have NOT been able to find an answer...

And since the last 2 posts I made the Devs were gracious enough to respond (Yes I picked the +25% to luck)

How does Creativity work? And/or DOES it even work?

I'm not a Dev, but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night...

From what's been posted here before, it gives you a change at getting the next technology free every time you finishing researching one.

I coulda sworn that Froginol posted that creativity raises the chance of you getting a tech upon capturing an enemy planet- the "next technology free" thing is a result of excess research points, not creativity.

I have read a ton of posts about this an no-one seems to know for sure. Take a look for your self. Anyhow

Ok well assuming the 25% means a 25% chance to get the next tech for free.

I have messed around and thought the same thing. But after playing several games and with low research (on purpose to test this) I have not ONCE gotten 2 techs at once. IE: Mass Drivers 1 and then 2 free. Several games with 100% of the tech tree researched AND creativity and not one (NOT 1) single time did I ever gain more than one tech at a time. So I guess if it IS a 25% chance it near impossible to go through 4 games and research ALL tech items in EACH game and not have it work once. I guess the odds are incredibly high that it COULD happen, but I doubt it.

So just a simple this IS how it works answer would rock hard core. So I can continue on with my life and not cry all the time. Or something like that

You get breakthroughs. When researching a tech sometimes you will get it earlier then you are suppose to and they say BREAKTHROUGH on the top.

Now see THAT would make more sense. Because if it was 25% to gain a free tech after a previous completed research that would make it near overpowered I think.

Yes,k creativity gives you extra weapons or shields that are associated with a research item. Like the nano ripper. When you get extra research items when you research one item, it is the result of having alot of research points. These research points are not wasted on just one item, the extra flood over to the next item on the technology branch. A good example of this is when you research sensors after you have built a 10 research tiles. Chances are you will get sensors 2 and sensors 3 along all within that one week of research completion. Or any item that takes one week, you have a good chance of getting the next item in the branch in the same week.

I have it on good authority that creativity gives you a bigger weenie based on this ratio:

creativity points x [research facilities / 100] = weenie length

I too would like just a little more clarification. The acutal blurb on this in the game seems to suggest that you get things that others are unable to get. I don't know what that might be, but I would like to know that the bonus does actually do something, even if I don't see it outright.

Come on devs, pleeeeese? Does this work or is it like the PQ bonus (which I hear is fixed now)?

False. Everyone gets the nanoripper (Singularity Driver IV). And creativity doesn't give any other extra techs either.

You can edit the files and give yourself 200 creativity, then play the game to see its effects. That should be more than enough to see anything out of the ordinary. However, I will bet that you will notice absolutely no difference. The only theory that might have any credit is the ability to steal (or capture) technology, but if that was the case, I don't think it would be called creativity.
