Fixed Now! Crash (Reoccuring) 1.1

http://www.alexbanin.com/debugcrash1.err
http://www.alexbanin.com/debugcrash2.err
http://www.alexbanin.com/debugcrash3.err

I'd send these in, but I don't know the e-mail address. Anyhow, I am playing on a Gigantic galaxy, at the highest difficulty level (suicidal?), 9 opponents (Torians are dead now), Uncommon Habital planets, common planets, uncommon stars, cluster stars, common anomilys, no tech trading, no tech victory, very low tech rate.

I crash every 3-10 turns. Every time the last three lines in the crash log read:
Debug Message: Updating ZOC.
Debug Message: Random Event: Begin
Debug Message: Random Event: End

This has happened like 15 times, but I only got pissed off enough to start saving the logs the last three. Please tell me you can fix this, it is really annoying to reload the game so often.

It happened again! http://www.alexbanin.com/debugcrash4.err

Please help me, I'm addicted to your game and it keeps crashing on a freaking random event (P.S. I never see a random event message in game, that is always just the last message in the log.)

Try downloading and installing, through Stardock Central, letting the game crash and then emailing the .DMP and .CRA files along with the Debug.err one to [email protected].

I have a recurring crash myself, but it seems to happen on a specific random event... not like I can figure out which. It's not happened YET in 1.1b4a for me, but my fingers are still crossed.

Hey Flea, thanks for the response. I didn't quite understand what you are telling me to do though. Am I supposed to download another program through Stardock? I already DLed the game and patch through Stardock, do I just need to run the game differently somehow (i.e. not from the desktop icon)?

Please try updating to beta 4b:
version 1.10[b4].018 in Stardock Central.

This should eliminate these crashes.

Doh, sorry CodeCritter. My title is wrong, I am actually using v1.1 BETA 4B as you can clearly see in the first line of my .err logs. I had updated to it last night hoping it would fix my crash, but it did not. I changed my title to reflect my correct version. I apologize again for the confusion.

Just found frogboy's sticky on SmartException (https://forums.galciv2.com/?ForumID=162&AID=109712#846692)

I'll DL that and run with it tonight (at work now), hopefully that will give you good data.

Thanks, BaninLance.
SmartException files are the best way for us to get to the bottom of crashes like this. If you have saved games that reproduce the crash, those are very helpful too.

Please e-mail these files to [email protected]. Thanks

FYI CodeCritter, in case you see this first, I sent in an e-mail containing two crashed with the .cra, .dmp, .err, and savegame files to [email protected]. Let me know if I can be of any more help.

Thanks, Banin.

I'll look at them as soon as I can.

Hey Critter, any word if a fix for this crash is making into the 1.1 final that is supposed to be out within a day? I have stopped playing all together because of this thing

Well, I upgraded my drivers (video and audio) to the latest available versions just in case. It didn't help. I'm sending in another zip file which contains the .err, .cra, .dmp, and save game.

BaninLance,
Thank you for all of your sent files. I've just downloaded your new save file and that has reproduced the crash. I'm sorry we weren't able to get a fix for it by 1.1, but I'm looking into it right now.

According to the data in the saved game file, it was created with 1.1 Beta 4A.
Many of the fixes made for version 1.1 will require you to restart your games for them to take effect.

Please start a new game with the final 1.1 version and if you get this crash, please let us know.

CodeCritter: I started a game with the final version of 1.1 and am experiencing a repeating crash while loading my autosave and previous autosave after a game crash. I emailed a copy of the smartexception log to gc2bugs last night.

Hey CodeCritter, just wanted to let you know that starting a new game seemed to fix the problem. Thanks for all the time you spent looking into this I'm now a happy camper again.
