Cheat Code How exactly to put them?

I know this is a stupid question but...

Sorry for being such a dumb! but i cant find a way to put the cheat codes to my game. I have the papers that says to "add the cheat to a shortcut to the application and you need it outside the quotes that enclose the application path in the shortcut" with the example but i dont know what to do with it!!! Can someone be enough kind to explain to me, step by step, (like the novel gaming for dumb people... ) what do i have to do to get those cheats??? What i have tried ,unsuccessfully , was to add the word cheat at the end of the shortcut (when i right click the mouse on properties) at the section: target but when i click ok or apply, i have that message: The name "......." specified in the target box is not valid. Make sure the path and file name are correct.

As you can see, i'm pretty dumb with gaming (too much old i guess....) and i really need help here.... Thanks to anyone willing to help me out!!!!

General, shortcut and compatibility are the 3 sections i find when i right click on the icon Galciv2. In the shortcut section, as i said, there is a "Target" section with the path and i add the word CHEAT after galciv2.exe" but as i wrote in my post, it is not working, saying the name in the target box is not valid....

Try something like that in your Target section:

C:\Programme\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\GalCiv2.exe cheat

Without the "..." .

Hope that helped.

Aight, let's break it down.

1. Go to your GalCiv2 directory, which for me is E:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2

2. Make a shortcut of GalCiv2.exe (not GC2Launch.exe, which is the where the shortcut that the game puts on your desktop points)

3. Right click on the shortcut, go to Properties. In the Shortcut tab of Properties, there's a field named "Target" that has the value
"E:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\GalCiv2.exe"

Change this to
"E:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\GalCiv2.exe" cheat

With the word cheat, all lowercase, outside the quote marks.

4. Double click on this shortcut, start a new (non-metaverse) game, and Ctrl-U, Ctrl-M, and all the rest will be enabled.

Let me know if this works!

It seems i cant use those cheats during those save games... Too bad because i was at the end of the campaign and needed badly some little help to win it all! Thanks guys!!!!

Doesnt seem to work for me, in either campagain nor normal games. Maybe this is cause I'm updated to the latest patches and it wont use cheats?

I have the latest version (not the BETA one) so i dont think it is the reason... I tried to start over the mission wiht my campaign (i'm at the end of it!: Apocalypse)but the cheats still not worked... maybe only on new game (no campaign)?

Pshh, who needs cheatmode? Just play one cakewalk dificulty.

I'm talking about the BETA's the cheats just dont work with those, which sucks cause I dont get the nicer AI and stuff... its either cheat to see the rest of the mission (the final dreadlords mission is insanely tough o.0) or just forget about the campagain and just play meelee's... which kinda takes the fun out of them.
