New drivers my ar... rear deposite box

So I bought a download copy of GC2 last night. I have two computers, one decent one I try to keep clean for playing games and an old broken down one I use for browsing and downloading.

Yeah you guessed it. Runs smooth as cream on the old banger and curls up and dies on my dream machine.

The good computer is way above recommended specs with up to date drivers no other apps running and in the right rez and colour settings. But if I start a new game (I mean a sandbox game) it will do a Crash To Desktop in the first few seconds of the loading screen (where you see a hint/tip). A bug a lot of people seem to be having. The strange thing is that a campaign game will run fine.

Of course the even stranger thing is the old computer. It barley makes minimum specs its in terrible condition none of its drivers are updated (I know the ati one is from 2004) its got god knows how many little pieces of crapaware running in the background… and the game runs smooth as you like.

The only other difference between the two is that I downloaded on the old one first. Then half way through downloading the tutorial videos on the other one a messaged popped up to add a new update to the queue. Old PC is 1.1beta, new PC is 1.1beta A.

Now the question is am I just cursed and it will only work on the old one or is all the evilness contained in that little A? So does any kind soul out there know of a way to downgrade to none A of evilness version? If not I guess I just wait for the next patch.

PS. Sorry if I put this in the wrong forum its more of a tech support question but bug reporting was the closest I could find.

If you can provide the contents of the debug.err file you can find in the directory you installed GC@ in on your good machine it can help us find the problem.

There is no beta and beta a's, there's the following:

beta 1
beta 2
beta 3
beta 3a (VERY BUGGY, this one had something in it that went very wrong)
beta 4 (Just to fix 3a)
beta 4a (newest)

I suggest you post a debug.err, and use this site to download and install 1.0x, which is pretty bug-free, until 1.1 comes out

Although, before you revert to 1.0x, please send the debug.err file from your newer computer with a SmartException log (SmartException can be installed from the Free Stuff tab in Stardock Central) to [email protected] and I'll see if I can figure out what's going on in that computer.

As a matter of policy, I don't use my rear as a deposit box, for drivers or anything else.
