Galactic Civilizations II 1.1 next week

One more beta this week

We're still doing QA on Galactic Civilizations II 1.1.  We've been working on a wide variety of things such as increasing performance on lower end systems, improving the computer AI, adding more alien dialog, fixing bugs, and the other usual stuff.

We will be putting up a new beta this week. Then next week we'll officially release 1.1.

Question: what is the estimated time for the localized versions (specifically: the German one)?

I second that, would be nice to know.

Unfortunately the german translation for 1.0 is a show stopper to me. I know it is not your fault and having good experiences with Paradox makes me believe they will fix all known problems belonging to them, but will it happen in time?

Wait a minute, Draginol == Frogboy? Why?

Frogboy is the carefree playboy persona, with lots of stock options. Draginol is the "Batman" type, grim, gritty, determined, and... he has a D in his name.

Also, like I said, I suspect hes trying to get on the payroll twice .

but will it happen in time?

in time for what?

anyway, where i work, things will usually happen by Tuesday.

no particular week, but for sure it's going to be a Tuesday.

Yeah, I was wondering that too (will it be in time- in time for what?).

C'mon, inquiring minds want to know!

Release it only when it is ready, and not a moment too soon, for the masses. IMHO

On the other hand, keep letting those significant beta versions fly out, its nice to see the game continuously being improved.

Must ... hold out .... a bit longer.

Anyway, I'm working on another game while simultaneously enjoying what this one has to offer. Kudos to Stardock for actually making me look forward to these updates

Just take your time. I'd rather have a good patch a few weeks from now than a crappy patch right now. Although the current beta is pretty good, IMO.

You really need to do smaller patches that can be released often cause the wait is killing me!!!

I'm sure my blood pressure rises everytime you say that it 'will be out next week'!

Do I have to HAVE to use that Stardock Central download to get the updates now?

Yes - public betas have to be downloaded via Stardock Central.

Beta patches are on SDC.  Release ones can be downloaded stand alone.

As stable as this latest beta is, mark my words, you will have people who say "What?! You released this bugfest? Hello! Learn to program!"

So when you say next week you mean around the time Final FAntasy XII comes out?

I'm playing of course. Keep up the good work, maybe i'll actually finish a game before you release another patch

i can't find a better place to post this... but do i HAVE to download and install the "stardock software" (to me, read: spyware) or can i get the updates from someplace else?

thanks

never mind - i just saw the response in this thread (derr me!)

second question then, do i need to be running as admin to USE stardock? i keep trying to run it and it's constantly crashing...

thanks again

dovholukspam,

1) Why do you read "stardock software" as spyware out of curiosity? FWIW, it isn't, it's an installer program for all the various programs Stardock offers that includes the ability to buy (with CC or with TotalGaming.Net tokens) their software from within the installer, or to install demos of the same software, where available.

2) That question has already been asked and answered in this thread, see message #43 for the answer.

Edit: Oops, got called away from my desk while composing, so I didn't see your second post. As for needing to be admin, I don't know, I gave up on trying to use non-admin users when even MS games required admin privledges to play, let alone install.

Thanks for the reply Popup Target ,

re: 1.)
i find any software which requires an entirely separate installation of softwared not included with the original RTM cd to be an abomination. the fact that i need to dowload and *install* sotware which is largely unrelated to the on piece of software i purchased really leaves me with a rotten taste in my mouth.... and to tell you the truth, feels like it goes against the stated policy of "no copy protection".

keep in mind i did purchase the prodct, i like where it's at and where it's going and i like the fact that they're supporting the product so quickly but to me, if stardock wants to push their other software on me, they should do it by other means. most notibly via making me register online (like they did)...

anyway, i've installed the stardock software but want to make my dissent known regarding this practice... who knows, maybe they'll read it?

thanks

One tiny suggestion, though this would be more of a 1.2 feature.

Have an option slider bar to set initial spending at start of game by default?
