Galactic Civilizations II 1.1 next week

One more beta this week

We're still doing QA on Galactic Civilizations II 1.1.  We've been working on a wide variety of things such as increasing performance on lower end systems, improving the computer AI, adding more alien dialog, fixing bugs, and the other usual stuff.

We will be putting up a new beta this week. Then next week we'll officially release 1.1.

Question: what is the estimated time for the localized versions (specifically: the German one)?

Wasn't it supposed to be out at the end of March? And then be out the week after that? And then be out last week? And then definitely be out this week??

Maybe you should just change it to "When it's Done" to stop getting everyone's hopes up.

I'm actually a big champion of "when it's done", being a fan of id Software and all (the guys who made that date famous).

Sounds good. I'd love if smaller UI things were fixed too such as the square in minimap that indicates which part of the world am I looking at really would show the right place. Now it's often misplaced and moves to the right area when I click the world map. There are a few annoying things like that and they really decrease the game experience for me. A few are related to spaceship movement or rather choosing the ships and their destination etc.

Keep up the good work! I'm looking forward to the final version. The betas have shown some great gameplay improvements.

Yay! FInally! But don't rush it for us, we can wait!

Are you going to fix all the minimap issues? THX!

Actually that's quite unfair against them. They've not only released regular betas to the public, but also told us always how the status of the patch is.

Imho we always had plenty of information how the patch is going on, which is much better then the "when it's done excuse you hear of other companies. Or the outright nothingness from some of them. (Anyone knows Egosoft here?)

Date? I assume you mean "quote"... and I always thought that was Blizzard . Id software (at least as far as I am concerned) will be remembered for the endless mandatory Quake patches that fixed problems I didn't have.

9.8MB (a hefty filesize for a 56ker) to fix a problem where certain Indoensian computers, when booted on the winter solistice during a rainstorm during a conjunction of planets with a rare video card, only 2 of which exist on the planet, would crash. Sometimes. You MUST download this patch to play online. Ha ha, sucker.

-_-; But maybe I'm just bitter.

I'll add that it's better to have a patch & information about it
than no patch or no information...

also I don't agree with vandenburg about egosoft
although they don't have a 'developper journal' like here, they give some information about patches from time to time & release frequent patches...

Btw, when you say "we" do you mean you and Draginol ? I'm starting to suspect that this whole double identity thing is just an attempt to get on the payroll twice .

As far as I know id popularized "when it's done" (yes it's a quote, but it's a date too!) when they were repeatedly asked about the release of Quake I (which was eventually June 1996). I'm not quite sure when Blizzard started using it, but it was probably after that.

Ya, it was probably after. Anyway, back to the subject of Frogboy's multiple personalities: Maybe if Galciv2 sells enough copies, we can get him some therapy ?

Froginol! (because Dragboy sounds a bit... err... nevermind -_-).

I sadly admit it took me too long to figure out that both Draginol and Frogboy were Brad.

Get it right - don't hurry.

Hollow- Oh really? In that case, I have a revelation for you... .brace yourself:

Superman is, in fact, mild mannered Clark Kent.

'Twas the week before 1.1, and nothing was stirring, not even a Drengin Battlecruiser...

Thanks for the hard work guys!
