Fog of war viewing mode

Idea for improvement to game

Just like there is an 'ownership' viewing mode for viewing influence there needs to be a 'fog of war' viewing mode that displays what territory is currently in your line of sight and what isn't. Currently, it's rather difficult finding out what you can see and can't see. This would improve the game a lot.

No.

What are you talking about?
There is fog of war. and it is extremely easy to tell what player can and can't see.

If the map area is clear, you have sensor coverage - if it's translucent, it's explored but not currently under observation - if it'sgray'ed out, you haven't explored it yet.

Now if you are talking about figuring out if YOU can be seen by another player, that's something you have to track for yourself....

I'm not talking about the main screen. I'm talking about the minimap.

Surely you will then agree there is an issue?

Uhh no. Works fine for me. Are you sure you didn't accidentally click one of teh buttons and screwed up your FoW?

1. One of the buttons on the middle row will set the minimap to show what you have explored - NOT what is currently in sensor range.

2. Frankly, I find the minimap to be too small to be of more use than to:
a. See the various influence zones
b. Check which planets are worth sending freighters to
c. See the range that the selected ship can get to ( and to send a ship "out there", detailed orders to follow).
d. Move the main map focus to a different part of the galaxy.
Otherwise, IMO it's just too small to be of much use for anything.

I generally keep the main map zoomed out to see all/most of my territory, so the fog of war is readily apparent. If I need details, then I zoom in.
