It's What o'Clock time!?!?

Ok so I've been completely addicted to the game this weekend and noticed the hard way what a HUGE time sink galciv can be. When looking up and realizing it's suddenly 5am...

Having a prefference for playing on the huge galactic maps doesn't seem to help either...

What I'd really REALLY like to know though, is there any way to skip watching autopilot ships move or speed them up? I get a dozen fleets moving around with 20 colony ships another dozen transports moving up and I can go eat lunch waiting for a turn to end.

Yeah - in the options somewhere ... maybe "Interface"?

Am I the only one who is no longer complelled to go to work? I mean, I didn't like my job in the first place but now all I want to do is play!

I never found anything in the options that seemed to help. However, try this. When you have a whole munch of ships that are moving arounnd, zoom all the way into some part of the map that is mostly empty and won't have any ships going across the area. Then hit end turn. It will go really fast then even though you have 60 constructors ans whatnot all over the place.

In the Interface Options screen, turn "Follow Auto Pilot Ships" off.
To really speed up also turn off things like "Watch Opponent Ship Movement," "Full Fleet Battles," "Prompt to Upgrade Starbase," etc. and do BinkyDaClown's suggestion.
