What the heck?

Just updated to Beta 4. When I started a new game, I couldn't see any stars and I couldn't build anything. I went back and started over but couldn't find any option to change this. What the heck is going on? It reminded me of Masters of Orion.

Bummer ... I'm assuming the game was running fine for you before you downloaded the beta? Beyond that without knowing exactly what you upgraded from it's hard to guess. I know there have been a couple of patches now that were not compatible with say the older ship config files. Not saying that is what the problem is but just thinking of things that are missed sometimes when reading the upgrade notes.

I downloaded beta 4, started a new game, and have had no problems. I did read that some of the old saves would not work with the new version.

Blow on the cartridge, jiggle the handle, or reboot. Sorry, that's the only advice I have for anyone.

You might have to jam another cart on top to keep the tray down. Don't plug anything else into the RF box!

Never mind! I realized it as I laid awake in bed that I forgot that I changed my starting techs. If you advance one tech too far you lose the tech that gives you ship engines and see where the planets are.
