Stars Systems and Stuff

I have the number of stars set to Abundant (the highest it can go I think), but on the biggest maps there is still an awful lot of empty space. Is there a way to mod the game so that it uses twice the number of stars (for example)?

I also noticed that in one of the tutorial videos, the planet Earth is orbiting a star called "Primus" or something. Is there a way to stop the game giving everyone those crappy (and virtually identical) star systems every time? I'd like my home systems to be a bit more random.

In hindsight, the modding section would have been better for this, but no matter.

\Stardock\GalCiv2\Data\English\CustomPlanets.xml

There you can alter your starting planets. As far as I know you can't make it random, but at least change their names.

As for the number of stars and planets, I don't think that there is a way to make more of them, as long as you don't create a custom map and place them for yourself.

If you want a lot of stars, play the galaxy under "scattered" star setting. The clustered makes a lot of empty space.

As for random home star systems, unfortunately this is not possible. They are all defined in "CustomPlanets.xml" as was mentioned. You can edit it anyway you want, but in the end it will always be like that. No randomization here. The only thing that will be randomized is the bonuses that may or may not be on those planets.

Ok, thanks.
