Unable to start game

I can't get to the main game. Whenever I start a game the program let's me make all the necessary choices, but instead of starting the game, it just stops and sends me back to the desktop. The same thing happens, if I click on the options button.

There is a sticky in the bug reports forum about dual core CPUs - might be worth reading that.

had a similar problem and worse it freezes my computer.

anyway, here's what i did

1. there is an april 2006 directX version, try getting it
2. get an updated VC driver from ati.com
3. get an updated chipset/ motherboard driver
4. tinker with your prefs.ini file located in the my documents\my games\.. \prefs.ini and set the multisample variable to zero
5. set the SkipIntro to 1
6. update to the latest patch
7. updated to latest sound card driver
8. got myself an ATI CC (catalyst center i think) and set the VC to follow the game settings f certain things like anti-aliasing, anispotric, etc, settings

If it makes you feel better (it probably won't) I am in a similar situation. All of my games crash on load, it doesn't look like a driver problem, and Beta 4A didn't fix the problem.

I lost my CD i have my serial number tho how can i download the game please email me

If you have your serial number, you just need to use Stardock Central to register your serial number and you will be able to use SDC to download the whole game.
