Stock Exchanges

Alright, so today I finally made it far enough into the tech tree to be able to build Stock Exchanges. After I finished the tech, all of my Banking Centers began upgrading... I figured this would be ok. Then I go and find out that Stock Exchanges do less economic upgrade than Banking Centers. Not only that, but I went to start changing all my Stock Exchanges into banks... and found that it no longer lets me build them.

I was at about 350bc a turn, 100% industrial output. Now im down to -60 and only 90% industrial output. Of course, all my factorys were upgrading to Manufactoring centers, but all my economic buildings dropping from 24% to 15% had a part in the drop as well im sure.

So, could someone explain to me the point in upgrading to Stock Exchanges, if they are worse? The influence/morale is ok, but if I wanted those increased I'd build entertainment centers or ebassys. Dosen't it make since that because they arn't just upgrades of each other, but diffrent improvments all togather, that they should both be buildable instead of just the "advanced version"(Stock exchanges)?

Huh? Can't be.

Banking centers give +24%, while Stock Market gives +30% to the economy.

Have you modded your game or something?

update your game to the 1.0d patch, or try the 1.1 beta 4. recommend the offical patch over the beta though

not only is that fixed (along with vitrual reality centres which had the same problem of dropping in effectiveness compared to its preceding building), but stock exchanges also give an influence bonus making them well worth the investment.

When your factories updated to the next level they increased your miliraty output. The higher any catagory gets the more credits it takes to fund it. So when your factories upgraded it started costing you more per turn because you were producing more per turn. The upgrades make you produce more per square of the map. But it's not free, you have to pay for the extra production.

It's still good to upgrade because as the game progress your ships will be more expensive and willt ake forever to build if your production is low.To lower your costs adjust how much your spending per catagory if you dont need the high output yet.

Don't need high military production, just slide that bar lower. Have no social projects you can build? Drop social spending to zero. Cna drop overall spending to as needed. Hope that helps ya out.

To get 1.1 BETA4, you have to be using Stardock Central.

A lot of people on this forum have said "But I don't want to use Stardock Central!". I think that's silly. It's a fine utility.

Version 1.1 won't be downloadable as a standalone patch until it's released. V1.1 fixes enough stuff that I advise upgrading immediately.

I already knew where to get the beta patch, I just don't want to get it because of the fact that its beta

The posters above made it sound like the newest non-beta version should fix it. Which, as far as I know, is version 1.0X, and I have that. Is anyone else that hasen't gotten the beta still having this problem? Or am I an anomaly?

Hmm, if anyone was interested.

I reinstalled the 1.0X patch. My saved game still has the exchanges doing 15%. I started a battle of the gods game(so that I would have the stock exchange tech upgraded already). The stock exchanges I could build in that game were 30%... so it seems its just my file thats messed up.

I had wanted to start over anyway... the Altarians(the alternate humans) had 25%(entire corner on the mini-map) under there control. They were destorying the Dominion of Krox(sp), who formed a protective wall around my civilization... and now im stuck in this endless loop where I start mass producing one ship, then I get an upgrade and can make a ship completely better... then I start mass producing it, but still have all these now obsolete ships sitting around...

That's the way it should be.
The .xml-files (including the planet improvements-file) are only read when you start a new game.

Otherwise, it would be extremly easy to cheat if things got bad.

Right, I was having the exact same problem, since my current game is still from an earlier version. So I guess I'll just have to crush the rest of the aliens and start a new game....*sigh*
