Races you love to hate...

I have no problem with any of the AI races with the exception of the Altarans.... Their incredable influence bonus kinda ruins most games they're in (I usually pick random races, just for spice)... Ususally the only way to counter their effect is to give large quantities of cash to whatever evil race is closest to them, and in the beginning cash is the one thing I usually don't have...

The Torians, those are the biggest bunch of flip-flopers I've ever seen, you just can't trust them.

I hate the Arceans. I asked them for help with fighting the Iconians, and they said that my threat was understood at that we are now at war with them, but in the Diplomacy they weren't at war. The only race that helped me was my ally. Speaking of which, my favorite AI to have in a game is Drath Leigion. They always are trading with me and helping me more then others.

Any races randomly attack you for no good reason? The Drath love to get all cosy with you while setting those bloody robots on you. I HATE the Yor. "Ooh look, our good trading partner is having some problems with the Altarians, let's destroy them!". They seem to love killing so much, it's disruptive to my (Drath) economy.

Plus when I used to be custom/Terrans they kept getting that powerful artifact which makes them immortal. One time, I had to rush my research, scrap all my plans for taking on Drengin with missiles (point defence heavy Yor), build up Laser tech (to bloody disruptors no less), race through Drengin territory, while I was at war with them (They had taken some planets of mine recently, and weren't being co-operative), take some planets, get my transports moving (While having lost a good 400 bc a turn from Yor trade), lose a lot of Mining starbases (which the Drengin got) and wipe them out, while they had just finished off the pirates with one fleet.

Mind you, the Drengin had been using missiles as well, and the captured techs won me the game

The only races I trust are the Drengin and Yor, the rest always try to play people.

Yeah, Torians seconded. I almost got culture rolled until I struck their capital world out of pure desperate survival. (Which turned it around) - Altarians are also annoying in this regard.

The Yor also concern me, given their manufacturing talent. (They always seem to have big fleets, but they seem to be trustworthy)

Torians first. I always seem to be leading a coalition against them because their influence keeps getting to strong. I did learn never to let them build any of the influence wonders

Acreans next - I always seem to start next to them

I always seem to war with these two and never really have good relations with them - ever

Terrans. In my games they are always a strong civ. Even when I stack up my diplomacy techs & goods I just can't get leverage on them. Also when I have fought them they've been the toughest to crack militarily.

My solution? I allied with them then droped influence bases when my neighbors (Torians) decided to Surrender to Earth. Of course Toria was my property shortly before their surrender... Lately I've been hiring every other race to attack the Terrans.

When I start out next to the Arceans I end up thinking "oh, great. the culture idiots of the 21st century".

But their not the ones I love to hate. Those uppity tech whores, the Terrans have to be my top pick. I never seem to get a start next to them, they end up on the other side on the galaxy and grow fat. They don't last until near the end because they are smooth talking diplomats, but becuase I have to hack my way through 2 races to get at them

Grrr those Alterians!!!

I've just finished a game in which I was playing the Alterians just so I didn't have to fight them

I hate the Torians. They're never straight forward about anything. In one game I spent a long time cultivating a possilble alliance with them, even helped them defeat their former masters the Drengin, only to end up having them launch an all out invasion of Terran space without warning. I lost in about 10 turns -- the bastids had been building massive fleets deep inside their territory even as we created mutually profitable trade routes and exchanged technologies.

My most trusted civilization... the Thalan. For some reason we always end up as allies. The bugs just seem consistent enough that I know what it takes to win them over in time.

Torians first, as has been said, they're so random and breed like rabbitts!... They die first in my games.

Terrans second, I never get good trade deals with them and they tend to build alliances and love to exclude me for some reason... they die second.

humans really annoy me. They're so smug.

Who can hate a race that looks like Tweety Bird? I just love the littel Torians!

Torians, their AI always tries to max out population on planets and swarm the galaxy with influence. They really chap my ass

I absolutely detest with a furious passion: the Yor! So arrogant and they waste no time kicking my butt if I am even slightly behind them in Military Terms ( I focus on the least amount of Military use!) and their incessant demands for cash to stave of a war with them has made me permanently look to wipe them off the face of the Galaxy in every game that I play them in....However they are usually wiping me from the Galaxy most of the time lol!

Love this game!

The Altarians.

They are so dam smug. And two faced. Always trying to play the relationship card when I am the Terrans. Cousins my butt....well, I fix them, and treat them like my in-laws....hehhehheh.

I don't know....It seems to depend on my civilization. My custon got along well with Krox and Thalan, and while other races were neutral, I had to take them out, out of spite of course.
When as the Yor, everybody hates me generally. Even the evil Drengin and Korx. After a few sandbox matches on the suicidal difficulty, I love to hate every single one of those bastards!! Every neighbor must declare war on one another; I manage to get them to decide that it was a mistake or joke to fight me after I grab a planet or two and destroy their invasion fleets....then hand over those planets to another neighbor to have them fight others while I recouperate... and invade...and repeat the cycle of death Yeah...I hate them all....

I hate the Torians so much, they always get a huge influence area in my games, and the largest threats to myself. Usually I pay a stack of cash to whoevers most violent to take them out.

Terrans always seem to ally with me, Thalans have never *ever* been nice to me I swear, I only ever get the cordial greetings. Which is kinda sad , I like those bugs

Would definitely have to be the Arcanites, fkn hate those arrogant mofos.. they always seem to be ahead of me in either military, or influence and then when you declare on them they bring in everyone against me

I hate the fact that the minors are so inactive.

I hate, really hate the dreadlords, they r so smug with there 1000+ ships, weapons and tech i can only dream of! Perhaps this is because i have only played the campaign game so for? All the other races r really sweet , lovely and downright nice. Even the neutrals co-operate with me. The drengin and Yor hardly put up any resistance at all, but those dreadlords, always there spoiling things.........sigh....

The Torians. The Dregin are always a pain, but I know and expect them to be. The Yor always cozy up with me for no apparent reason. The Drath never like me, but never attack me. The Altarians just... Do their thing... And the Torians are completely unpredictable and extremely annoying.

I hate, and I mean HATE the...Iconians. Not only did those b-words create my second most hated race, the Yor, but every game I have th Iconians in, every other race surrenders TO THEM...even with my custom race's max diplomacy bonuses, and Diplomatic Translators and techs.

Currently, I have switched my strategy and race picks to (try to) go rapidly to Planetary Invasion Tech, and snagging their homeworld with four modified transports (modified only for speed), taking their capital and ransoming it back for their non-homesystem expansions within the first year of the game....haven't figured out yet how to do it, but I'll figure it out eventually, and maybe even write up a strat article about it.

The Arceans! I thought they were my friends but when i was busy kicking some Torian ass, the b******* attack the flank of my empire. Oh and on the campiagn the dread lords, i think the developers did really well with them, they're so brutal they leave no suriviors when they can help it.
