Annoying feature

Is there any way to turn off the auto-focus on ships? Its really annoying when I'm trying to click on something and all of the sudden I'm jerked half way across the map because my explorer ship got to a annomaly.

I want to know too. This often causes me to lose a turn's worth of moves for the fleet/ship I actually want to move because the game moves focus at some point during my input.

Similarly, when you first select on a ship, it gets auto-centered on screen. There's been a few times that I've clicked to select a ship and immediately right clicked to next to it, intending to move it to an adjacent square, but instead the screen had jumped, and the ship moves off in the wrong direction. I'd love to be able to disable the ship auto-centering

After selecting a trip for ship (say ship A), I will often click on another ship (say Ship B) to start selecting its destination. When ship A completes its trip, the computer jumps to a new ship and recenter. This is often timed to be just when I'm about to click the destination for ship B. As a result, the newly selected ship is sent off to a random point that happens to be same location on the screen that the intended destination of ship B.

I'm not so interested in disabling the auto-focus as if the ship completing its moves is not the same ship as the currently selected one, it shouldn't jump. If I could disable auto-focus, that would obviously meet my needs, but it's more than I want.

Agreed it would be a nice feature to be able to toggle.

How about a button that will find the next ship without orders? That way you can easily find them without going into the options menu, but only when you are ready to do so.

Unless you accidentally hit it of course, anyone else hitting the Turn button when they are just trying to click on the lower right of the mini -map? I think the mapping on that button needs to be looked at...

I use the Find button that is left of the Turn button to take me to the next ship awaiting orders.

Metaphase, as Robert mentioned the Find button will take you to the next ship without orders, but an easier keyboard short cut that I use is to hit

OK, I think I figured something out. Under the "Game" option in the menu you can deselect "Show annomoiy discovery" (or something along those lines.) When you de-select it you will no longer auto-focus on the ship, but you won't really know what you found either... Also under interface there are some nifty options you can choose from.

Yay for tinkering with options.... Can't believe I haven't tried that sooner.
