Frogboy, here is what i found

some bugs and ideas:

- i want my ally/teammate to tell me what he/she (no, wait! hey, where are there no female leaders???) is currently researching

- cycling through planets by using cursor keys in planet view (will make the game less mouse dependant and so less "clicky")

- in diplomacy window: when holding down the arrows (increase and decrease money) it should ad up more and more increments, i.e. i need more than just +1 and +10. so like after one second it adds ten, after two seconds (holding down the mouse button) it adds 100, after 3 1000 or so

- new production time changes too slow. i have to go back to main view or even wait until next turn to see time left until completion

- messages (GNN) at beginning of turn should be deletable (maybe by right clicking, or even adding a context menu) or when having looked at they should delete themselves automatically, also the player should be able to customize GNN to his/her needs, as e.g. dont show ships destroyed last turn or stuff like that.

- i WANT to be able to scroll the main map view with my cursor keys, right now keys move ships, who uses that? right clicking is much more comfortable. or make ship movement only on the num-block (so with diagonals) and map scrolling with cursor keys (up + right = diagonally to the top right)

- i want to be able to build buildings of a lower tech level. i.e. basic farms when i dont want to spend the resources to build a high-tech farm

- longer starting planet names at race customization can be entered but standard name is shown in game.

- speak to race by double clicking on that small window (in the middle of the relation screen).

- i WANT to see planet buildings production queue (or only next building in schedule) from main view (as i can see next ship being built)

- if more ships are on the same square, no individual ship can be upgraded or destroyed. you have to manually move them away to uncluster them. also if ships are on same square as a starbase, one cannot upgrade these ships

- i WANT a scrollable minimap. when playing a gigantic map, only zooming is possible. i cant look closer to locations further away. (maybe right clicking on minimap and then dragging, or left clicking. i think main view is already draggable. make same mouse button also for minimap. makes for intuitive game controls

- if repair skill is high (mine is +40 very often; i like fixing things), ships can get more than their max hp.

- autopilot (right-click) can make move ships (i KNOW it can for transports) move outside of their range.

thats all. i hope you take the time to read it! im playing your campaign. and i have to say AI is a bit weak (it doesnt know how to use its money properly on those campaign missions where you start with 30000 bc), BUT dread lords, well you know, you programmed them!! shame on you!! i have to play nearly each mission twice to figure out how to beat them.

keep up the good work!

They do. It's under the "misc" section.

I don't, it would clog up the interface too much. A lot of people dislike this idea.

As opposed to clicking speak to? It's no different amount of clicks or effort.

- if repair skill is high (mine is +40 very often; i like fixing things), ships can get more than their max hp.

It's called max hp for a reason. If you want higher HP, put points into starting max hp.

- autopilot (right-click) can make move ships (i KNOW it can for transports) move outside of their range.

If it's passing through to an area within it's range yes. Otherwise, it's completely stupid. Max range for a reason.

Maybe a right-click on the building could generate a menu of lesser tech buildings to build. I hate that I can't downgrade a food resource. It's really annoying when you get a large population which creates lower morale, and I can't control that by having a less productive farm.

I think food is the only one with this problem. Everything else you want more of (better morale from games, better influence from embassies, better research, better production, etc...), but food is the only one taht I can think of that can be detrimental to have too much.

Those were bugs, not suggestions.

I think she/he is saying that when you repair a ship it sometimes has more than it's max HP. (Say a ship has 10 damage, but you repair at a rate of 20 hp/turn, then that ship may have 10 additional hitpoints after it is repaired.) I think she/he is reporting a bug, not saying what she owuld like to happen.

I find the biggest problem with factories, because the Industrial Sectors are so expensive that they take a new planet forever to build. (And they cost 10K bc to quick build.) So it would be nice to build smaller factories on newly conquered/colonized worlds so that they can build up a base production.

I think you misunderstood the OP, Marcathonas. They weren't saying they *wanted* max hps to go above max with repair, they're saying they have a high repair and a BUG makes ships go over max hps during the repair phase. Probably doesn't check vs max hps when applying the amount to repair, thus causing the overage.

Also, the ships moving out of range thing is another BUG as I know I can right click somewhere and my ship will move out of its max range and then go on autopilot and come back to max range.

I like the right-click idea a lot.

I often avoid researching the farm techs because of this issue. But it's also a problem for me for things like factories and research buildings later in the game: When you take over an undeveloped (because it was flattened during invasion or previous owner neglected it) planet, it might have very little production power. If you've researched the high-end factories and labs, all you can build are factories that might take 35+ turns each to build or 2000+ bc to purchase, and similarly for labs. I'd much rather be able to start with cheaper factories, etc that can be built more quickly, and then use those to bootstrap up to building/upgrading to the high-end ones.

In my current Dread Lords campaign, I sometimes wonder if I'm sabotaging my allies by giving them some of those high-end production buildings, when they may not be capable of constructing them in a timely manner due to their high cost (and the allies lack of cash because I've taken it all selling them techs)

A lot of people want that one. It's been discussed, and it doesn't sound like they plan to change it.

How about just type in the amount? which you could do right now.

Have you try "click and hold left mouse button" to scroll the main map? Try it.

Maximum is the high limit and nothing can be higher than it by definition. Repair skill represents the rate of recover. thus, it is not the skill to increase Maximum HP. Just like Speed and Acceleration are related, but not the same. If the top speed of a car is 200mph, then whether it accelerated slowly or faster, its top speed would still be 200mph.

autopilot (right-click) can make move ships (i KNOW it can for transports) move outside of their range

The range limit is there for a reason. Nothing can move out of its range; it would defy logic.

BUT dread lords, well you know, you programmed them!! shame on you!! i have to play nearly each mission twice to figure out how to beat them.

??? Campaign is easy. I play it though on tough+ level and never lost a mission, never needed to replay a mission to get pass. The key to deal with Dread Lords is using Tiny ships. Try it next time.

MonkeyLogic, the original poster was mixing suggestions AND bugs.. the HP and range things are bugs! He agrees with you, but the game doesn't. It DOES those things.

And the right-click on a building in the build list to choose an older version to build? That's a great idea, interface-wise.

Well, maybe I misread. I apologize if this is the case. It has been a long day at work...
