Don't understand the construction-length-calculation

or is it a minibug?

Hi,

I noticed (latest beta b4) a little problem because of the transfered social production:

Without specializiation
Military: 23
Sozial: 22
Weeks: 7

With specializiation
Military: 26
Sozial: 11
Weeks: 6

Both: no sicial projects

The costs stay the same in both cases. I don't understand this, because in the first way there are 45 points spent, in the second one 37.
I guess the display doesn't care about the transfered production because of not having sozial projects?

Greets

It would appear that you're using the focus option on the planet screen; the entire point of that is that you -(very inefficiently)- can convert production from the other fields into the one of your choice. If you want

Focus isn't as good if you aren't actually spending the money on social. I jack social up to 80%, and focus on it, so when projects are finished then it shows DOUBLE the military focus amount, yet same time.

It's purely cosmetic, the output is based on your factories.

specialization = focus in my post.
Please take a look on my post.

Without focus: 23+ 22 -> 7 Weeks
With focus 26 + 11 -> 6 Weeks

you see what I don't understand?

Hey Torsten,

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. I see that with focus, you are spending less overall (since, as the manual states, "there is a penalty applied to the conversion"), but you're getting a slight boost to military spending.

Are you confused because you only get to go one week faster?

The costs of what? Of what you are focusing on? Of everything that you're producing despite your focus?

EDIT- Wait... I think I see you're point. Now I'm confused too

If your transferring more social (22) WITHOUT focusing (since you're not building any social), then why when you focus does the boost of 3 to military and 11 from social (because of focus penalty) actually give you an increase ? Is this what you're confused about?
If so, my only guess would be that one full military point equals several or more social points (hence the conversion penatly), so that the 3 point boost in military is actually around the same value as the 11 points that got transferred from the focus option. (I have no idea if this really how it is, and have to go work.... Good luck!)

Yes Anodos, that's the point. I have more "total-points" without focus, but the productiontime isn't lower.

When you don't have a social project the number in the Military section shows the total of Military and also the carry over you are getting from Social. The Social section shows your raw production of social. It is, however, darkened to show that it is not being used in social. When you specialise in Military, your military total goes up as you would expect. The social number goes down to what social would be if you had a project (minus the bonuses), but since you don't it doesn't mean anything.

To help explain this, with your above example start a social project on the planet. You will find that your military will drop to about 14ish, and your social will go to what it should be after bonuses applied. Remove that social project and your military will jump up a huge amount, and your social will drop to show it's raw amount. The amount that military jumps up will be exactly the same as this raw amount.

I hope this helps a bit. (I also hope I am correct)
