Use starbase as a ship? Tech: Starbase conquest strategy

Enables starbase to be the flagship of your fleet

Hi,

i've researched "Starbase conquest strategy" that allows using it as a ship, according to the help "Enables starbase to be the flagship of your fleet".
But how can I move a starbase?

greetings

You don't.

By "Flagship" It means most powerful ship. A fully souped up starbase makes everything around it damn near unkillable.

Sorry but someone will have to spell this one out for me...

You mean you can initiate attacks with it even though its immobile?

And er - its a constructor thing is it?

You can't attack with it. It is built by constructors.

Except "ship" implies something mobile. To call an immobile starbase a flagship is like calling Hawaii a flagship of the US Navy.

My assumption when I read that description was that it allowed a starbase with a fleet parked on it to include the fleet in the battle if attacked. (I haven't been abe to test this, though).

yeah this is confusing me too, i thought you could like label one ship as your Flagship their by making it cooler or fast or something... but then i realized that the little survey ship you star out with is nothing but a name label . Too bad you couldnt label a ship as the Flagship maybe get a sensor bonus or +1 to speed or something.. maybe had a neg effect on all ships if you go without one?

i dont know i just ignore that tech eheh

I usually pile everything humanly possible I can on one huge, super-powerful ship, call it the flagship, and build more specialized versions of it for the general assault ships. The idea of a flagship module or something is interesting, as long as you can only build a few of them, or you can only have one per fleet.

It would be nice if you were able to designate one of your ships as a Flagship. Maybe get some kind of free experience bonus for the ship, since it would have the best crew, and give ships in the same fleet a combat bonus.

Riiiiiiiiight.

So the best answer so far is that you pop out a module to your starbase, and this allows it to 'fleet' with any parked ships.

Hmm, sounds plausible...

Why does this game have to have more mysteries than Agatha Christie?

The whole flagship and fleet thing is a red herring.

Starbase Conquest Strategy just gives more powerfull ship assist attacks - and thats it. No other abilities according to Galatopedia at any rate.

Stardock are just being nice to your upgraded starbase by kind of calling them flagships in the text description. Another puzzle solved I hope.

I guess we have all seen too many Star Wars movies in our lifetimes and have developed a Death Star fetish over the years :O

Gal Civ 1 did have Terror Stars. It would be nice to have more modules for starships in any expansion pack they make.

The GC2 expak will have terror stars. Gotta love them Drengin.

My question is what will happen if a starship with the speed of 1 parsec comes within the range of a starbase with an interdiction beam.

Small question. I havent played galciv 1. How terror stars worked in galciv 1? Where they just simply Uber Powerfull, uber hard and uber slow weopon platforms? Did they have special abilities?
Been playing galciv 2 like crazy and it would be nice to have those death star incarnations in this one too. Hopefully they will be in expansions or future patches.
