error message said that my video card was not compatable with direct x 9.0c

game doesn't show planets or ships in the game just grey or blue circles

i got the game and have watched the tutorials showing what the game should look like but when i play the game it shows the sun and a load of coloured dots to represent the ships and planets.

Make sure you have the latest drivers for your video card. And/or post your debug.err.

Alternately, post a DXDiag report.

Go to Start>Run in windows and type dxdiag.

Wait for the diagnostics to complete, then click on Save All Information.

Stick the report file somewhere handy. I just save it to desktop normally, as I delete it as soon as I've sent/posted it wherever.

Make sure you're not zoomed all the way out in tactical view. Scroll your wheel mouse to zoom in more.

However if you actually got an error message that your card doesn't support DirectX 9 and that is actually the case then:

1) See if your card has any new drivers or bios that may allow it to support DX9
2) If not you'll need a new video card.

Post your debug.err file here and all of that info will be revealed.

GC2 said my card didn't support DX9 when I first installed it.

I played Doom3 with this card, it supports DX9, very well I might add.
