Everything went white!

I was in a battle, right clicked on my ship, and everything went white that wasn't a button, planet, star, and ship. I shrunk down my game to get at a screen capture program, but it fixed itself. I know this could be just me, it's happened on other games, but if others get this it should be looked into.

It's you I believe. Maybe something with your video card? Post a debug.err so we can see the precise specs.

I had the same thing happen, Nvida 5800. Didn't do anything special. May have been low ram, happened after about 500 turns. Though it wasn't recoverable I was still able to save the game, so it's not a major bug.

Common bug with nVidia cards, also sometimes found on other cards, pretty much any brand, because the actual fault is with DirectX. Most manufacturers have compensated in driver releases. It is *always* good advice to try updateing your video (and audio) drivers first, then the latest DirectX, and then making sure you have the latest game patch (release or beta, whichever you prefer, but I have found the latest beta much better than the latest release version).

Yeah happened to me too after a really long session, 6800 gt video. I'm probably not running the very latest drivers. I just saved, quit and relaunched the game.

If it has happened for you in other games as well, then it is very likely to be system related. As the folks above have mentioned, a video driver update, a Direct X update, or a video card upgrade are by far your best bets for correcting the issue.

Yup I was getting the "White Screen of death" too. Using a 5900 Ultra. Updated my video drivers and it solved the problem!

I get it also with a 7800 SE

Yar, I get that too on my 6600 thats only 4 months old. Newest drivers wont fix this as I have the 3/9 drivers and it still does it. I'm thinking it's a heat or ram issue myself. I usually save, shut down and let comp cool for an hour and fire it up again and I'm good to go for anouther 8 hours or so, heh.

I have a two month old 6600, newest drivers, latest DirectX and I have seen the white screen once and a purple one at least three times while playing all the versions of GC2 since it was released.

Ditto Weyr - 7800 GS. It is nothing to do with the game, but as Mistoffeles said a DirectX / Nvidia hangup - haven't had it since the nvidia driver update on 17th March, so hopefully they've fixed it (or at least made it happen less).
