Where Is The 1.1 Patch???

bloody liars

The post from the devs on this site said that the 1.1 patch would be available "at the end of the week" 3 weeks ago now. And no it didn't say it was going to be a beta it said that the 1.1 patch would be available. So where is it? I'm not a beta tester, I don't want a stupid beta. You said that the patch would be out 3 weeks ago so where is it? Is there an ETA or are we just supposed to hang around like a bad smell forever?

We lied.

What do you want me to say? We said 1.1 would be out this week and it's going to be next week instead.

Shame on you Stardock Liar Liar pants on fire...

You know, they aren't a purely game company. They have other things to do, like keepsafe which is the reason it was delayed. They do not have to do anything for you, they chose to update free out of their own kindness. They don't abandon games, they charge nothing for bug fixes or extra features, yet you, you whiny little ingrate, start feeling like it's your right to get these things?

The only reason I haven't written down a longer reply is because the language involved in my original, intended reply would have got me banned. Shut up, and let the devs release it when it's ready. They owe you nothing.

Dude don't blow a gasket. Some people just don't know how to appreciate it when something actually is supported after its released. As for the delay... thank god they aren't the company that promised us duke nukem forever...
Well, stardock doesn't have to anything, but if they didn't do anything they wouldn't be so successful, would they?

A patch coming in late should not suprise anyone. They come when they come. Just download the latest beta and be happy.

Meh, some people do annoy me. Honestly, I doubt DNF is a real game. "Lookie! look at that! Isn't it great! Keep giving us money!"

Currently, the devs of that are all sitting around playing galciv2

If the patch is in QA, and it's delayed, it's probably for a good reason. I'd much rather get a rock solid patch, than what some other unmentionable companies release, where more bugs are introduced than fixed.

As to Duke Nukem Forever... You guys have that wrong. The games actual title was Duke Nukem. The forever part was purely set for expectations.

Star Dock, PLEASE DON"T RELEASE THE 1.1 PATCH!

until it's ready.

Well, I think it happened like this:
A game reviewer previewed the game, had a look at how people were working.

He was asked how the project was going, how long it would take.

"What, Duke Nukem? Forever!"

Star Dock, PLEASE DON"T RELEASE THE 1.1 PATCH!

until it's ready.

wow. Funny. So, you're saying you want an unfinished build? ah yes, more food.

Hey, let's just appreciate that 1.1 and other game improvements (not just bug fixes, mind you) are on their way, and we're getting 'em for free. Stardock isn't like certain other developers who are charging you for puny little downloads that add little significant change to a massive single player RPG. I'd say we're getting our money's worth here! While we wait, we can just enjoy some of the other features of GC2 that I'm sure most of us haven't even touched yet... I've been so busy lately I've barely touched the campaign and the Apocalypse scenario just makes me drool. If I didn't want to get a 5-game badge on the metaverse, I'd be playing that 'til... Well, maybe the apocalypse.

huh? How you got that idea out of my comment is really amazing. How old IS your glasses prescription?
Right, the signing off as me with sarcasm wasn't enough? I don't need glasses. Perhaps you require a brain transplant? Or do you need one to begin with?

Chill Marcathonas, I believe that Zippyriver was giving you props for your comment about the DNF devs sitting around playing GC2.

I'd respond to the OP, but, my mama always told me tht if ya can't say nuthin' nice, shut the hell up!
Ah crap. Didn't read that properly.

Sorry zippy. Didn't mean to get all pissy, just the OP fired me up. And now, damn post won't edit

Well, good thing then my post regarding British humor got ate then (jk).

You might an been slightly influenced by my post in the "how do I bug thee" thread. I was a bit more toung-in-cheek there and no one caught it (yet) even though I gave a couple of hints in it.

no worries

Hu-mor? What is this nonsense? The humerus is a bone, what of this hu-mor? I believe I may have read about it somewhere *shuffles through* ah here we are.

Cripes, get a room., you two.

j/k

I hear ya about getting fired up at the OP. After witnessing Brad and co.'s amazing support for several years now, it really chaps my ass to see some putz without a clue talking weak smack.

We have a project at work that was supposed to start two years ago but we (the developers) keep getting tasked to maintenance and other "minor" but completely new projects. The codename for the project was originally Renaissance. (How original, I know.) At the two year mark, however, the team agreed to choose a new moniker: DNF.

We tell the pointy haired bosses that it stands for Document Networking Framework. But we all know what it really is...

Seriously though, you should feel free to download Beta 3A of 1.1.  That version is pretty much ready. If there are any problems at all, we definitely want to know about it. It's not supposed to be buggy.
Ok. I am running a below specs machine and have waited patiently for the final patch release (it's my only working computer and killing it terrifies me). I am about to get a new game started so I will do it ala beta since you feel that version is in the envelope but not stamped. Will let you know how it goes.
well, guess 4 hrs was not too bad. When you release the final patch, will the whole thing have to be downloaded again? Or will you also have a smaller DL that updates the most recent beta?

I also noticed an oddity while dling. After I started the Dl I returned to play on the fourms. I later clicked on the SDC box on the task bar and got both boxes pop-up.

The "update now" button is still active and no, i didn't click it again, but some others might and then flame the board because SDC hosed 13 hours of DL time. I was supprized to see the one on top. I thought it got closed when I clicked "update now" the first time. But seeing that button was still active, and a new patch comming out? I decided to mention it. ounce of prevention kinda thing

Everything seems to be fine. I started a normal game to see if working, and no problems. It does indicate the correct build. Map generation and initial turns (first 10) all ok too. I didn't notice any difference in game speed, but it is still early (in game and in rl lol)

Any chance of you getting that updated? Considering the game looks like it's growing slightly less tolerant with each new gameplay patch, you might run into problems come 1.2
