Annoying Bargaining Interface

Hello, i'm a beginner in GalCiv 2 and i'm also a great fan of Civ4. I really miss in GalCiv that the cost of the technologies i can trade with my neighbors is not displayed, so i can't really know if i'm doing a good deal or not even if now i'm getting used to it by learning the tech tree. Another annoying thing is that there is no "what will you trade against this ?" button like in Civ4, moreover we don't know in advance the technologies that your neighbors will NEVER trade you. Thus you have to test everytime several combinations before finding an interesting deal.

Could this functionnalities be added in further patches ?

Seeing the research cost might be nice if you aren't familiar with the tech tree yeah, but they do assign different values to them supposedly. Like I remember reading that they made the AI more reluctant to give away military techs. I also noticed that some races (probably dependant on their current strategy) might value influence a lot more or less than BC. So it probably wouldn't help too much since how much they are willing to let something go for depends on your level or friendship and who knows how many other things? I'm not sure, but they seem to know when I'm offering a tech that I have already researched a level higher on... Sometimes you get better deals from other races for the same thing.

In any case, when you put up a couple of techs for swapping, remember you can always add BC and influence points and such to get the most out of it or just to test how they feel it is balancing out so far.

I was told (and will repeat) that the way to do this was to plunk techs down, and then alter the BC slider until you find exactly where it goes from red to green. This is a huge pain when you're used to civ's "what will you give me for this" option, but it seems like a manual way of doing the equivalent function.

I'm still learning the game, but I'm discovering that not only are there multiple factors in determining the worth of a tech, different races may make better or worse trades with me for identical techs. It kills me that if 8 races have something, I have to actually search for the best deal by painstakingly putting the tech on the table, and setting up a sample trade of money-for-x with *each one of them* to quantify who'll give me the best deal. Worse, who gives you the best deal doesn't seem to precisely correlate with my relations with a race, the +'s and -'s or anything else. I wish you could have the game automatically identify those deals.

I find it hilarious that you can ask for change when trading techs. I imagine real world diplomacy working like this.

"OK, we'll give you most favored nation trade status in exchange for your vote when Iran comes before the security counsel. PLUS you must give us... $135 billion? $134 billion? $133 billion? $132 billion?"
