Many Forum Issues Today

Is it me or is it memorex?

Sorry if this is a double post.

I just posted a thread 20 minutes or so ago about how the edit function has disappeared in the forums. And that there are a LOT of SQL errors today.

It did not appear inthe forums or in my posts.

Besides that, When I reply to a thread, instead of taking me to the new post, the forum displays a blank screen with just the header, starry background and boxes to the left. When I go back to the Everything forum andpull up the thread, my reply is there, except for once.

What's up - is it me or is there a problem with the forums? I know they are busy, but I have not seen this behavior before. Was a change made to the code? If so, something is screwy with the link to the SQL backend or the j script stuff.

TIA

It hasn't appeared yet. It's irritating, not being able to edit anything. And watch what happens when you click submit, page goes weird.

You have probably worn the forums out with the amount that you post

Then again if they just changed the batteries maybe that would help, or got the hamster to speed up

I like the options the forum software has, the metaverse medals and all, but really they are quite buggy.

Well, the double post was due to a database glitch but we did update the forum code today.  I'm looking into the issues posted above.  But if anyone receives any errors please post the errros here so we can get them fixed.

Well, looks like one of our tables in our database was deteriorating.  That appears to be the cause of many of the SQL errors.  I have repaired that table and things are running a bit smoother.  But if you still encounter any errors please report them here.

Thanks.

The edit and Quote buttons are back.

Another error I am now seeing is that when I go to some post pages I am getting logged out. I. E. I click on a thread, and when the thread opens I am no longer logged in. This happens especially on multiple page threads on the pages after the first one.

Have deleted all my offline internet files and relevant cookies, still happens.

Now and again I am getting this.....

Server Application Unavailable

The web application you are attempting to access on this web server is currently unavailable. Please hit the "Refresh" button in your web browser to retry your request.

Administrator Note: An error message detailing the cause of this specific request failure can be found in the application event log of the web server. Please review this log entry to discover what caused this error to occur.

The above happens when I click on a post to view it.

I suggest to just feed the hamster a little more

I just made a post in another thread and got the blank forum screen (again). I waited a good 10 mins before even touching my desk (didn't want to bump anything). After no change to the screen i went back to the forum list, opened the thread again and my post was not there. Glad I had the foresight to copy it before submitting.

This has happened a number of times tonight (am, wotever). Earlier when it would do that, internet exploder would crash (4x times it happened) but it has not crashed in a while (maybe the deteriorating code was causing the crash).

I also have had a number of web page unavailable displays, but I didn't note the whole thing. I just figured it was my isp being a butt. (netscape isp and using IE, what MUST I be thinking)

I've posted umpteen times in these forums but my posts (non flamage!) keep disappearing.

Looking at the "My Posts" it lists my last post as months ago - which is patently incorrect. Nothing makes using forums frustrating more than posts going MIA.

Very mysterious.

I'm also having problems with being able to add a comment to a Journal thread, as well as update personal account info (I get a HTTP500 Server error). As I'm attempting to be a first time poster, this of course could be operator error...

I just ran into this one:

Administrator Note: An error message detailing the cause of this specific request failure can be found in the application event log of the web server. Please review this log entry to discover what caused this error to occur.

I have no idea what causes that.

I am getting browser crashes today on the site too. Have not really had those before. Latest version IE. Been submitting the error to MS if that helps. (Please don't rag me. I am a MS professional consultant and have to use it. Have to know my products.)

Cleaned out all javascript stuff, cleaned out all files and relevant cookies, updated all objects in IE such as activeX and Flash for example.

Also get the error Frogboy posted quite often.

Still getting logged out accasionally when opening up a post.

Any error tracking stuff you may need please let me know and I'll run it.

Another issue: When you click on the sub-forumsdrop down box and select go to a forum, you get the blank page. The subforums are gone. (Strategy, AAR, etc.)

Blank pages becoming more common. Bet that SQL datatable is being eaten by that hungry squirrel again.

Another one for you to look at....

An Error Occurred
There was a problem opening this page. Please refresh the page and try again.
Whatever you were trying to do, it didn't work out the way you expected.
You could always return to the Home Page.

Please arrange for a new hamster to be fitted

I am not too sure about the validity of the last line though

I'm having the same issue as oldstatesman. Click on any of the sub categories at all, press Go and come up with a blank page. So I can't get to any category I want unless there's a post on the left of the screen under recent foum posts or the very few forum links options.
