getting fed up with this software because it will not run.

will not run

Well i've just about had it with this game at this point. It will not run at all. I have more than enough resources, i meet all the requirements by far and i've excersized every fix on the forums thus far. If there is anyone out there with the slightest clue as to why this game will not run, i would love to hear it. As for what happens visually when i try to run the game : I get a black screen except for about 3-4 inches of the right hand side which still shows my desktop and actually allows me to access anything on the desktop still.

As i said before, i am at my breaking point with this software and am ready to burn the discs just for the hell of it.

My debug info is as follows -

Post the rest of the .err please. It could just be a game problem. We also have no idea which parts of the game are running, this is nowhere near enough info to do anything.

Apparantly as said in his other thread: https://forums.galciv2.com/?AID=112357
That is the entirity of the error log. Like in the other thread, I suggest making sure that all drivers are up to date, especially those for the video card.

you've mulitposted the same thign 3 times. It think that's a record. Try to give us ALL of the debug.err, including the system info. ALso, it may be because you're running at 1200x740. I read somewhere that you can play at any resolution as long as one of the numbers isn't below 768. Try running it at 1024x768. You could also try to run it in a window. Go to "C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2\Prefs.ini" and change

[Video]
DisplayWidth=1024
DisplayHeight=768
ColorDepth=32
Fullscreen=1

to

[Video]
DisplayWidth=1024
DisplayHeight=768
ColorDepth=32
Fullscreen=0

If that is all you are getting then your DirectX is screwy. The debug.err pulls from the directX diag. you can get this maually by typing 'dxdiag' in the Start menu/Run line. Once it comes up click show all information and savethe file to your desktop you can open it up with notepad - post the first 6 or 7 sections here.

Those video drivers are out of date. Try some new ones. Also, when a render device cannot be created that is a sign that either your installation of DirectX or your video drivers is corrupt or otherwise borked.

Update your video drivers.

Reboot.

Update DirectX (using Windows/Microsoft Update).

Reboot.

Update to the latest non-beta version of the game.

Don't need to reboot as far as I know.

If this doesn't work, run DXDIAG.EXE and create a report manually and repost it here.

You are running a dual cpu machine. There isa Sticky Thread with instructions on how to fix some things with that setup. https://forums.galciv2.com/?ForumID=274&AID=102033#862130 You have to set Hyperthreading to 1 I believe.

It's funny your debug.err log is not pulling all the dxdiag stuff - that tells me something is probably hosed with your directX install. Go to Microsoft's site and re-install it.

Haven't read your other thread but the min res is 1024 * 768. so the width is good enough but the height is not, it must be 768 or higher. You can set it in the prefs.ini in "My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2" or delete it.

If that's was allready mentioned or is not the problem sorry.

Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80GHz (2 CPUs)

Are you able to set some affinity for the CPU? Since you have 2, there may be some strange behavior.

BTW, your display is still 1280*720.

Seems phbbt107 allready mentioned the res...

I think I know when the edit doesn't work anymore... As soon as another post is made you can't edit the ones before..
