Possible bug : invade leads to upgraded planet quality instead of decreased planet quality

Hi. First of all I want to say GalCivII is a great game. I am addicted to it, enjoy it very much.
I downloaded all the patches of the game. I do not use any mod plug-in.
I want to report the following.
The case is this. I invade a planet. Use mass driver invade or tidal wave invasion for example. My report : after invasion the planet-quality is higher.
The last planet I invaded had quality 26. I invaded the planet seven times. Increased planet quality was every time and random; planet upgraded to a planet quality ranging 27 to 35. The planet quality, as you can see, should have decreased as a result of the invasion, not increased.
Still, a great game.
Thx.

Possible explanation:

Existing owner of planet did not have any terraforming tech researched.
You were either of neutral allignment, or had an orbital terraformer.

PQ goes down eg. 1 point due to your invasion.
PQ goes up 5 points due to your tech/allignment

End result - higher planet quality after successful invasion.

The figures varied each time due to your mass drivers causing random damage each time, but never quite equallying the PQ bonuses you added yourself.

I'd be pretty confident that this is the explanation.

ok , THX
I had a different concept of the term planet quality. Thought of it as fixed for the planet; with terraforming tech to improve the benefits of the initial quality of the planet. Like in Sid Meijers Cross Fire; tech improves the benefits of the planet (more production for the 3 sectors). You discribe it as being a dynamic figure. You could be right. In your vision planet quality can rise or fall down, in my vision planet quality can only drop as a result of invasion but never rise.

Thx for your thoughts.

You're both right. He means, if you took neutral alignment or have an orbital terraformer, you would invade and PQ goes down. Then, due to bonuses in PQ (also, did you take the PQ bonus at game start) PQ would also be increased, resulting in a net increase as some planet areas are rendered usable.
