New in beta 3: these new engineers are in such a hurry

that when I upgrade a ship, my previous design vanishes. So far, so good. Only, it's a pity to see that it vanishes even if I had ships in service realized upon that old design. I mean, it's wonderful that your "Chubby Light Fighter 1" disappear when you upgrade it to version 2, but if you have already built some "Chubby Light Fighter 1", they appear no more in the ships' list, nor in the shipyard one, so you have to look for each one of them, in order to choose between disbandig, upgrading or sending them boldly against that Drengin Dreadnought headed for your better planet so as to take a shot of its delightful lilies.
I don't know if it is a bug or not, but would it be an exxagerate "desiderata" suggesting to have the game recognize if there are ships based on the design you are going to update and, if yes, do not erase the old version from the shipyard's list?
Thanks.

Yeah the old ships disapearing on redesign is a bad,....very bad thing.
I was in a war.Though I had a decent 100+ rating army it was comprised of older designs.I decided it was time to upgrade 2 ships to ther top of the line tech that I had at that time.I didn't have the cash to upgrade all the old models so I thought I would just change production of all my planets to these new ones and then phase out the old ones that way,..but unfortunat;ey since the game made all the old ships in sevice obselete and took them out of service it left almost every planet I own completely defensless. As you can imagine,.since this was not the start of the game,..it probably won't go to well for me in the war I was involved in as my mitlitary rating has dropped to almost nothing in the matter of one turn.

SD is aware of it and has said this will be fixed in the release.
