IS galciv2 too buggy to fathom?

Okay i have 2 planets, both of which have approval above 80% and both of which have population capacity 10 mt above current populations. But one of my planets grows not at all whilst the other grows. And by the way, they havent reached their pop caps. Why is this? And also why is it that i crash after i try to save upgrades to ships?

Well what are the current populations on both planets and what's your current food income? Which version are you running under and do you have any growth bonuses?

My pops are like 17.4 bil and 7 bil, planet 1 has pop of 17.4, production of food is 26 mt, its pq which is 11, has a 26 bil pop max. planet 1 will not grow past 17.4 bil no matter what i do. I have a 20% growth bonus for abilities, and 25% for approval. I am running under the first version. I dont know why i mentioned planet 2, its pop growth is fine. But please help me understand why planet 1 will not prgess beyond 17.4 bil. This is a real game killer.

Does this help you at all...?

BTW - I am using the latest 1.1 beta 3 patch and I think that there are a number of improvments made to the way that the population develops since the first version of the game, which you state you are using.
If you do not wish to use the latest beta you could update your game to the latest retail (non beta) patch.
If you did update it then (AFAIK) you are always better off starting a new game.

There is a population cap depending on planet quality that isn't shown anywhere in-game which you have probably reached.
However, you can still transport people to the planet and fill it as long and they won't die as long as you have enough food.

Question: What do you mean with first version? If you mean the retail-version, then you should install the 1.0X-upgrade, available either from downloads or Stardock Central.

Dramatics not required here. You reached the pop cap. Can't get anymore on a planet, but you can transport them in if you wish. If you had a bug which blue-screened you constantly, thats a game killer. A designed feature IS NOT a game killer. Sheesh.

Oh yeah, don't run the first version. We know it's buggy. That's why 1.0d and 1.0x were released. Stop complaining if you aren't running the most stable version: just upgrade it.

It helps to read posts. I havent met the quality cap.

I'm still having difficulty finding the planet quality listed anywhere on the colony screen (or anywhere else, for that matter...)! But at least now I know how to figure it out, if I ever DO find it!

Game killer? You have a strange definition of that term.

Anyway, your pop cap should be 34.6B, which is basicaly double what you report. Strange. Can you confirm that you get this issue under 1.1b3, or at least 1.0X?

Also, I seem to recall that population growth ceases below 40% morale, so its possible that this planet's population is causing enough morale penalty that it wont grow anymore.

Rebtad:

Is your approval actually 25% on that planet?

If so, that's your problem. Your people are in such a bad mood about your rule that they can't find it in their heart to get in the mood with their loved ones...

You don't appear to have hit any other limiting factors.

And in the future - please don't start posts with "This game sucks because it's buggy/boken/stupid!!! - Oh, can one of you idiots that actually likes the game help me out?" I know your probably frustrated, but insulting those that you are looking for help from usually isn't the best way to start off...

Edit is broken. Sometimes its a good idea just to bring in software rather than trying to build your own forum,. but Im sure StarDock will fix it one day. Anyway. Forget the morale bit. Just re-read the first post.

I just reread your post like andrewas did...

I realize that the 25% approval mentioned was your bonus, not the planet approval rating/morale. I have to admit that I'm stumped - but I can see in another one of your help request posts that Stardock has already offered to review your file. I'd be interested to know what their answer is.

Way too much help for a Troll. No, GC2 is not too buggy to fathom.
