Bought the Retail version but it acts more like a beta version than a final version

First let me say that i Love this Game above all others of this type... but with that said, please fix all the bugs that cause me to crash all the time at some point.. this game is far too great to not come up with a patch to save it.. i am a veteran at the computer to some degree and no matter what i try, even a fresh install has not helped to keep the game from crashing at some point, very frustrating getting a great game under way only to lose it all and not be able to complete it.. call in help if ya need to, but please save this game.. thanks Guys/Gals.. Could you post your debug.err file that is located in your Galciv 2 directory? It may help to spot if you have something in you configuration that needs to be fixed (like having latest drivers for your graphic card).

There is already a patch whose version is 1.0X that fixes some bugs and improve things.

And a second patch that is now in the 3rd beta - scheduled to be production next week I believe. 2 patches in 2 months - that is pretty durn good.

BTW, sorry you are having issues, but the vast majority of people seem to ok - yes, there are bugs, especially in the Beta builds, but overall IMHO this is an extremely stable game as games go.

If you will post your debug.err log perhaps we can help.

i lov it these beta patchs seem to get more and more stable after every release

for instance
1.1beta crash every 20 or so turns
1.1 beta 2 crash 30-40, or crash on certain area of the map IE-invasions, or building starbases on a certain portion of the map caused a CTD
1.1beta 3, over 200 turns.. only crashed once, w/ 9 AI on tough diff., and on large gal

If you want stability, don't download betas. Install the 1.0X patch, update your drivers, then post an error log if you're still having problems. Good luck!

I never crashed on until I started using Beta. Didn't crash once even with the retail and after 1.0X it's rock solid.

Now, be warned, I see lots of veteran on here presumed that Stardock central has the Alpha/Beta release option "off" by default, but actually it's "on" by default. I know because I never changed the setting on Stardock central and yet I still have access to all the 3 beta so far. In fact, to check what that option look like today is the first day I see the setting panel, and it has the Beta "ON".

So folks upgrade through Stardock Central may thinking the Beta 3 is the latest version

Indeed, I was surprised by that, especially after Brad's post on "Only BETA if you know what a BETA is..." I've reported it as a bug.

I think that betas are turned off initially in the latest downloadable version of Stardock Central.
