11 Player Game?

Just a quick question, is it possible to set up an 11 player game using a custom race for youself by and editing something? The only hurdle I have found is there's quite often only room for 9 slots on the screen. Going further with that how hard would it be to simply create lots of custom races and have even more races?

I'm currently playing a game with all the majors and myself as a custom race, so yes, it is possible. We'll see how it goes in terms of slowdown, later in the game.

Yes it is using the scenario builder.

Create a custom scenario with all races enabled, including the dread lords if you like, set yourself as the custom race and there you go. Just start the game as normal and select that scenario.

I should point out you need to set up the morality/skill level of each race, look in the xml files for this, it isn't hard to do
Also 11 never survive, races often surrender so I have had no slowdown in my experience.

It may crash in the UP though, i've never had them all in at once, one always dies off

Also enable cheats and press control + alt + D a few times, this will spawn minor races to unused 0 quality planets, I think there are five or six, always the same ones.

It would be alright if you didn't have eyes of the universe. That is a pain on gigantic maps, when everything has sensor range +10 and every ship in game is on mini map. But no, can't be done.

Since it won't let me edit that, I need to post that I was wrong, since it can be done. Just haven't tried it in ages

It doesn't crash the UP you just don't see one of the voters. They still vote though. Also if you switch to a minor race it will let you vote and all the majors will still vote.

On diplomacy it will add a scroll down bar on the right to take you to that 10th race since there is only room for nine. The only thing it doesn't seem prepared for is the relations screen where your custom race icon will be off screen but it will show bars going off screen that denote trade, war, or alliance status. It's ugly but it still works fine.

Yeah, I think 11 players would just slow down the game. Mostly near the very end of the game, where there is a lot of things going on. :/
