The Flagship is a medium-hull. So you need to get to at least that level of hulls before you can upgrade it.

I saw it in the forum.

Simply create a new ship based on a medium hull, seeing that you can only upgrade within a hull class.

the post doesnt appear on the recent posts until the first bump, and the first page of the forum is mostly stickies and other things so some get lost, and others take longer to appear. like was said earlier, your flagship is a medium hull ship, so you cant upgrade it until you have medium hulls researched, once that is done, make a new medium hull ship, pop on what you want, and you can upgrade to that.

Keep your survey ship, you need those anomalies. They're valuable, only upgrade it when you have run out of anomalies over the entire map. As stated above, it's medium.

You can also just place a survey module on the medium-hull ship that you use as an upgrade to the flagship. One of the first things I research (after engines to the first +1 bonus) is scanners, so I can equip my cargo-hull scouts with survey modules. By the end of the first several months, I have maybe 6 scout ships running around to get to as many anomalies as possible (as well as scouting, of course).

As I understand it, you can't make a ship your flagship; flagship is the name of a hidden type of ship, and you start each game with one ship of that type. It's no different than any player-created ship with the same components would be.

Absolutely nothing. Its just a name and has no bonuses/negatives as far as gameplay goes.

Of course, if you're trying to write up an after action report on a game or make a story out of it, it does help add some realism to it.

"Sadly, emperor Whillowhim the 1st fell in battle when his flagship was destroyed by a cowardly sneak attack by the humans. Since the ship he was using for his goodwill tour of the far end of human space was equipped for exploration, not battle, it stood no chance against the human fighters. Whillowhim the 2nd, after killing all other possible claimants to the throne, denounced the Humans and immediately began production of the new battleship "Whill's revenge". He then renamed the Yor Empire to "Whillowhim's slaves" in honor of his father and declared a new Imperial day of mourning, decreeing that 1000 subjects be put to death on this day every year to keep his father's memory alive."

Nothing. It's just named that because it's your first ship.

So...basiclly i can make any new modell and call it Flagship?
Yep. You can also give each individual ship a name. Just select the ship and click on that small square icon behind it's name.

IMO, there's no point upgrading your flag ship. Once you get medium hull, just build a new flagship cause it's cheaper than upgrading (although slower). Then decominssion your current flag ship.
