"Our schedule right now is to have another beta this week which should introduce the modding. We will continue to iron out bugs in the beta, tweak balance, and then after that we'll release it as a non-beta. Originally we wanted to get 1.1 "done" by the end of March. But we wanted to have some extra time to tweak and balance things, which in turn add bugs, which in turn have to be fixed. But we're getting pretty close now. Hopefully users of v1.1 beta 2 like what they see. And soon it'll be done."

I dearly hope the final version will come out SOON!
1.1Beta-2 is practically unplayable for me with its incessant but erratic crashes.

Hmm, Beta-1 was crashing a lot for me, Beta-2 runs smoothly.

same here, however in my game i played in beta 2, there was a section of the map ... if you would build any starbases, or do an invasion in this area, the game would crash. But i agree its a lot more stable then the first beta.

I found that the easiest means of ridding myself of the midgame grind and its eventual crashes was to disable debug mode.

Seriously, when the game doesn't have to write half a megabyte of information on everything happening with each turn, it runs a lot faster.

Oh, defrag too. Not with Diskeeper Lite either, SysInternals Contig ftw.
