Ask for help during war?

They can do it, can we?

I was playing last night. Two races are at war. One's not doing too good and I have a friendly relation with them. So they ask me if I can help them out. So I did. I gave them 1000bc and two defenders, since I was pretty rich at that point.

Now I am wondering, can we ask for other people's help during war? Will they treat me like, you asking money again? Or they will know that I'm at war and will consider the situation?

Well, tribute is tribute. So if you've asked recently, don't expect anything.

However, if you're a good race, the Torians and Altarians (when you're fighting a neutral/evil race) and all the neutrals (if you're fighting an evil race, or they dislike the race you're fighting) Send you a message saying "Well, we like you, and not them, so screw them, we're joining the fight!"

I have asked other races for help. Sometimes they'll join willingly, other times you'll need to bribe them to join and sometimes you'll be out of luck entirely. Once, when the Terrans attacked me, I asked the Drengin to attack them and so they did. It was a huge burden lifted off me so, instead of fighting the Terrans with the Drengin on my side, I just sat on my laurels and let them fight it out amongst themselves. When the war was done, I was more powerful than both.

You need to be careful, though, because if one side wins a decisive victory it can push them far ahead of you in terms of power.
