Changing difficulty mid-game

This one is really for the Stardock guys, or anyone really familiar with the game. Is there any way to change the difficulty of a game after it's started? I got a kick-A$$ start on a game, be4 i realized the AI's were only set to normal

. I want to up their difficulty. So, is that info saved in the savegame file? Can i hex edit it and replace the difficulty with a higher one? if so, how? any other way? Just curious, i know it may be impossible.

You seriously remind me of that guy:

There is no way to change the difficulty after setting up the game AFAIK... Would be a nice option to have, though.

i'm talking about hex editing the savegame, not using a game option
