Nicest AI event?

What's the nicest thing the AI has ever done for you?

In a game last night, the Torians gave me (for free) 2 econ resource and 1 military resource starbase to help me fight the drenign. All the starbases were nicely upgraded, although they were on the other side of the galaxy (i'm playin on a gigantic map..).

I'm wondering does this event get triggered cos i was low on the military rating or because i was fighting a common enemy? (or both?)

The odds of that happening seem to be influenced by a few things.

Like Alignment: If you're good fighting evil, other good races are more likely to give to you
Common Enemy: Kinda fits in with alignment
Middling Military Rating: If you're already powerful, the AI doesn't want to make you worse. If you're really weak, the AI isn't gonna waste its ships (or at least any of its good ones)

The nicest thing the AI ever did to me was surrender to me when we were at war, and on opposite sides on the map and haven't even seen each other yet.

They offered me $700 each turn for 4 turns, I dunno maybe they were scared of me I was evil and was several magnitudes better at everything than them with and an alliance with both the Drengin and Yor.

Hmmm, the Triple Entente of Evil - The Drengin, Yor and Morberis..... I think I'd surrender (although if the Drengin were going to eat me I'd probably blow up my own planets first)

All these aliens ever offer me is cash..

Though I tend to build lots of starbases anyway so they might think I dont need them.

All they've done for me was money trading one pretty good tech for one of my lowest grade research (this happen very oftenly).

i've gotten mining starbases as gifts in my last few games too. other than that, i usually just get cash.

well...the best i've ever gotten was like
1,000bc or so total from all the civs
one or two starbases...both very upgraded military (right near my main enemy...sweet )
and 2 planets (one from the yor...they were my neighbor and allied with my enemy...it was class 9) (and one from the torian...they were very weak...also my neighbor...also allied with my enemy...class 11) i guess they are frightened when i make more money than all the civs combined and have more ships than them...not to mention i was almost all the way evil on the scale...i like being evil...people fear you...BOO!

I've had planets by demanding them before, typically when im at war with a civllisation and they're losing badly. But definitely never had them offer me planets off thier own back.

They've asked for tech trades before and asked for help plenty when they're getting beaten by some other species.

But never offered me anything for nothing beyond just cash.

I like to pick a weapon technology that the fewest other races have and research the crap out of it, then I sell (or sometimes donate) the defense for the other guy's tech to whoever is loosing. I find this keeps them busy long enough for me to bulid up. Being genourous, I've noticed brings rewards. They frequently pop up and donate money and such (usually 5-20% of what they have total) 'due to my glorious and wonderful civilization', or some such thing. No planets or starbases though, and I kinda earned the donations they gave me.

The finest staship gift is a bit annoying acctually, since it always seems to be a starbase.

have seen the drath severly hurt themselves by giving me all three of thier economic starbase's in a major solar system of thiers. sure it was nice having a premade trading income boost, but the common enemy was accross the map.

Valakov, have you not been had by this trade? Actually, if teh Drath and you are allied and the UP resolution 'allied starbases benefit allied planets' is passed, they keep the benefits of the eco starbases, but you get to pay for their maintenance...

What's the use of an economic starbase for you if it is far away from your planets? apart from the little influence gain, i think you've been had.
