What do I need to create a survey ship!

Hello everyone,

I'm new to the game and of course I love it.

I've got this question though: what do you need to create survey ships? I want to explore anomalies but without a survey ship, I can't. at some point I constructed a thingy that said: "Any ship can survey now" (something similar to that) but it always said the same thing whenever I'd send a ship to an anomaly: "You need a survey ship to survey anomalies".

So, can someone help? What tech do I need? (or whatever I need)

The tech Sensors I gives you the survey module. The wonder you built allows you to put these on a ship for free, but you still have to place them in the ship editor. Oh, and the starting flagship can survey, so you can always just use that.

It isn't worth it to build a survey ship. By the time you get that tech, most of the anomalies have been explored, and anomalies don't respawn like they did in GalCiv 1.

In the custom map "duel" where you play head to head with one opponent, you start with no ships at all and there are lots of anomalies.

In the one game I played at the tough level the AI never built a survey ship and I finally did. Wound up being very helpful

is a survey ship available to be built in the starport?

I posted a version of this question on another thread.
Mine was about the 'campaign'....playing on 'normal' mode....does it ever 'give' you a survey ship?
How about if you play at 'beginner' level?
If it never does......why this post above;

Hey.....what I need to know.....is it necessary for me to research all the stuff I need to build a survey ship, in the first mission of the campaign....or should I just forget about it.....screw the anomalies?

If I need to build one.....what are the research items you need?.....just the 'sensors 1' ?
From the one post above....sounds like one should just forget about surveying anomilies in the campaign.....agree?

you just need sensor 1 for the survey module. you can make any survey ship you can after that. not sure what the pre-reqs are for the default survey ship.
