Advantage of being good?

Why?

During the ethical choice events, it seems everytime it's never advantegous to choose the good option. So the big question is...why would anybody wants to play as good? (aside from the obvious advantage...like other good race are nicer to you)

Would we only read the rewards of being good only if we reserach "good and evil"?

Or...are there hidden bonusses that is not obvious and untold?...like maybe although we loose money to save some ppl from death...we get a moral boost from our population?

There are various penalties for being "evil", UP issues, random events, many REALLY bad things happen to evil races only. If you are going to play good, choose neutral or evil choices and rush for xeno ethics. Pay the cost and you will never encounter those events again.

As kalin said. Evil get a max of 1 trade limit in most games, no help from other races ever, and the fundamentalist event, where they lose most of their planets. Good/neutral get none of these. I start good, work my way down to evil, and xeno ethics back. By that time I'm so rich from my evil event bonuses I can afford it

Has anyone ever seen the comp choose an alignment? I think they should focus on this a little more.

Trade away Xeno ethics as soon as you research it - should force the AI to make a decision then...

Normally the bonuses for evil choices aren't really good enough for me to chose them -- and they usually reduce my pop. which is my tax base ... The only evil choice I make is the semi-sentient worm thingies... the +20-34% planetary bonus is too good to pass up--use 'em for fertilizer I say

Hell, I dislike choosing alignments. I only choose when I'm demonic (from my angelic start point) So I have nothing more to lose, and have gained a large amount.

After choosing Good or Neutral alignment (and paying for any sins) can you make evil choices without penalty?

You don't get to make any more choices at all...I think the random events stop after Xeno Ethics. At least, I've never seen a random event after making that choice.

I only see the choices, sometimes when colonizing a planet. Perhaps, the colonization phase is over by the time you choose your alignment.

- Never seen any random events after Xeno ethics either

- I go Neutral if: Im playinga politcal game and want the trade bonus

- I go Good if: I have alot of other good aligned AIs and want to get in good diplomacy benefit

- I go evil if: I'm on the war path and want the offensive bonus

Maybe once you've declared your ethical values, it automatically chooses that path for whatever ethical events happen afterwards? I can't see why you wouldn't see the actual events though . Being evil gains wicked weapons, and good gains terrific armors, both are great. Neutrality doesn't even compare.

neutrality is the best IMO. It adds around 30% PQ to every planet, increases your trade routes, and gives you a morality and economic boost as well. I never have a problem with money after I research Xeno Ethics, and pick Neutral.

Gotta disagree Bovi, neutral is the best, Extra Trade routes and trade goods are perfect for funding research. When I go neutral I can tech right past the computer players and stomp them with high-tech weapons and defenses. Once the neutrality Learning Centers are put in the game, it'll be even better.

I forgot to mention that the Neutral alignment also gives you a bonus to your soldiering ability. The other choices just don't seem to compare.

Neutral gives you a bonus to Soldiering? I thought other than the extra Techs they just got a bonus to Morale.
