No trade and no thief tag ?

Hi

Can we hope for a no thief / no trade tag in the tech file ? Without that, it's really HARD to do custom races.




P.S. I have a problem, here : My messages don't show on the board, but they are listed in my "my messages" list.

I've been requesting this for a while too, I think the dev have seen it, they just haven't said anything about it. The only thing to do is wait and see if it comes. I think they like keeping us in suspense.


PS: It shows up, it just takes a minute or two. Of course, then it gets buried by more recent ones, so you don't see it right at the top...

Erm, How is it hard to do custom races? There is no tech trading option, but no thief would make the top levels of espionage not really worth it. I don't think it will happen.

If you don't want to steal technologies, don't put any money into espionage.

I'm pretty sure he meant making customized tech trees for each race, as those are related to technologies. Since they are specialized, you don't want everyone to end up with them because they are traded away/stolen from. FYI: there's more than one way to steal technologies, invading planets works too. I don't think he means to shut down the entire tech tree, he just wants specific technologies to not be stolen/traded away, hence the need for a tag to do it. If not he would just ask for an option at start up.

We can also think to a tag "race" : Only race defined into can have this tech. Example :

*race*7*/race* => Only the race 7 (Drath. Or Foxies in my mod) can have this tech.

*race*7*/race**race*2*/race* => Only the races 7 & 2 (Drath & Altarian) can have this tech, and trade/steal wich each other (Drath can trade/stole this tech with Altarian, and Altarian with Drath, but not other race can have it (by research, trade, spying, etc.).

Nice ideas guys -- I'd love to see the mods you come up using this (if it gets added, though they have a lot on their plate and I won't pretend to know what's most important -- not out of fan service but because I'm not them).
