made ship problem

I've ran into a problem with ship building and can't seem to figure out how to fix it. I made two colony ships. I can't get either to work till I have a ton of tech, the second one was made to be that way the first wasn't. Colony Ship Mk II has two Warp Drive Mk. Vs, two colony modules, two extended supports, and Sensors Mk. IV. The other, Colony Ship Mk III has two Hyper Warp Drive Mk. IIIs, two colony modules, two ultra supports and Sensors Mk. IV.

Problem is it won't let me build the mk II colony ship till I get hyper warp 3. I don't get it, the mk 2 doesn't have hyper warp but it's required to build it, did I mess something up or is this really a bug? Any way I can fix it? I had another problem with building too but figured out that was because my miniaturization was too low. Still don't get why I need hyper warp for a ship that only has warp though.

Did you upgrade your ColShip M2 to the M3? If so, the Prerequsite code could be getting confused.

Could you send the .shipclass and .shipconfig files, for both ships, to [email protected], along with a link to this forum post, so we can try and figure out whats wrong?

Thanks Tanrim!

I think this is the same problem as described here:

If so, would it help to send my own simmilarly affected files to the aforementioned address?

I might have upgraded from the better one, can't really remember. I sent the files asked for. Just noticed something really wierd though, there are 3 .shipcfg files for the mk II. I didn't see that before. I have no idea how to go about fixing this though.

I has this issue too when upgrading.  The new design would still require the techs of the old design.   However I have been able to fix it now in the Beta 1.1 v2 game since *.shipclass files are now *.xml files and are user editable.

ON EDIT:
I am having issues posting the fix.  Probably too long. I will start a new thread in the modding section with the solution  - here is the link to it:  https://forums.stardock.com/?ForumID=348&AID=111295

Have any of you guys had this problem when using the 1.1 Beta? I can't get this to reproduce, so in converting to XML the problem may have been fixed.

Unfortunatly, I can't reproduce the issue right now, so if you have reproduced it on 1.1, please let me know the steps you took and I will look into it further. Thanks!

1.1 Beta? The version of the game I'm using is v1.0X.2. Got it at the store and downloaded Galactic Civilizations II Bonus Pack a few days after. Not really sure what the problem is or what to do about it. I also made a ship 'Heavy Transport' for high end conquest but it doesn't show up till a long time after I get the tech.

Re my post # 4 I had trouble posting my reply in the GCV2 mod forum due to trying to post code I guess.  Forum software did  not like it.  I re-posted my reply in the Gal civ forums here https://forums.galciv2.com/index.aspx?ForumID=348&AID=111310

The original is in the stardock forums - usually they mesh but not this time.

@ Tanrim -

You can email your files  to stardock as BoogieBack said in post 2.  I don't think that they are user editable in version 1.0x.

My solution is for Version 1.1 which converts the shipclass files to xml format so users can edit them.  If you want to try the beta version, it will convert the files when you upgrade.   If not, you will have to wait until 1.1 is released as non-beta later this month (week?) .

Yeah, I emailed the files. It's not too big a deal I guess but just putting it out since something doesn't seem right.
Maybe whatever caused it was fixed in 1.1 and the whole issue is moot, who knows. I'll probably just have to delete the ships and start over. Back to it.

I can't get this to reproduce, so in converting to XML the problem may have been fixed.

I can't reproduce it either in 1.1 beta 2. Love the change to xml.
