Is this game multiplayer?

I thought we could play multiplayer through Metaverse. What's the purpose of "inviting" another character to your empire?

There is no multiplayer. The metaverse is simply a competitive ranking system for single player games.

Do people never think about this sort of multiplayer? ship design takes ages, it would be a nightmare.

I kid, I kid. Seriously though, I heard that the framework is there for multiplayer so maybe it will be implemented in a large patch or the rumored exspansion.

Yeah, it'd be great if Stardock wasted their time on functionality to satisfy people so stupid they don't read the website, or the box, or the manual.

Ship design takes seconds. Throw engines, weapons defences extras etc... now if you wanted something PRETTY then yeah but functional only takes seconds.

The correct anwser to this question is: "Not yet"

Hot seat might be coming in the first expansion (or earlier?) there has been no hint of when full-fledged muiltplayer may be enabled/added.
