Not sure how many gamers are playing this with voice dictation software. I'm probably the only one. Still, this is worth mentioning for future reference: Galactic Civilizations II: Dread Lords is extremely friendly to DragonDictate which means, by extension, that it is friendly to gamers with disabilities.
As a developer, I see it as smart design. You obviously didn't screw around with stuff that didn't call for it. Some games will completely lock out other applications. Games that are compatible with DragonDictate don't allow the voice console to display in-game. I've never, ever seen that until GC2. I can use the mouse grid with GC2 meaning that I don't have to use the mouse if, for whatever reason, I don't feel up to it or it (more likely) needs to recharge.
DragonDictate will work in a typical fashion (mentioned above) by default. To use advanced voice command features like the mouse grid, players should uncheck the "fullscreen" option under video settings. The game will remain full screen but other windows are allowed to share the environment.
Last point for anyone planning to do gaming with voice dictation--get a nice set of headphones. Dictation doesn't work unless you isolate the audio.
I'm not much of a 4x gamer as I prefer squad strategy like Silent Storm but, because of this, I'm buying the Collector's Edition. It won't be long before you find me in the Metaverse.
I suppose my only remaining question is this: should I purchase at the mall or download/CD from here? I don't buy games from EB or any other brick & mortar shop but I will if you need a sale registered from them.
