Very annoying.

Anyone else finding that alt tabbing causes the game to crash?
I really hate it when games cant handle such a simple procedure!
Makes the game feel unpolished to me, i like to be able to do multiple things at once and really this should be remedied!

Works fine for me (albeit a bit slow).

my game used to lag a lot, and crash when alt-tabbing at first, but then my computer freed up more RAM automatically. It now runs smooth as silk. If your computer doesnt do that automatically, try freeing some RAM manually or plug in some extra. This crash is due to your computer, not the game. (at least that was the case for me)

Within the first couple weeks after release it was mentioned by the devs that if you're going to be alt-tabbing alot, it's best to simply run the game in windowed mode.

You know 90% of most NEWER games no longer support it, SO when it works your lucky.

Bleh. I want to see games not only support alt tab but provide a button for switch window !!

Tabing works fine for me, but i started running it in windowed mode as it worked even better (why can it switch faster in windowed mode then in full screen? It seems like the opposite, if anything, would make sense)

I tried running in windowed mode, but I found that you really want to run the game in the highest resolution your monitor supports.

Think of it in terms of windowed mode operation making performance sacrifices in the way a the program is run in order to allow it to behave like other basic Windows tasks. Meanwhile full-screen mode sacrifices Windows functionality in order to run the specific program in question (GalCiv2 in this case) at its full potential.

That's a really basic way of putting it, I know.

You can with windowed mode if your desktop is set to the highest res just set the game in windowed mode to the highest res as wel.

What do you mean most "Newer" games dont support it. BS .
This is the first game in a LONG time that doesnt support alt tabbing.
really simple feature. doesnt take much to playtest this one.

Unblinded: FYI, we were able to get Alt-Tabbing withing 100% of the time on the computers here in the office, so perhaps it's a system-specific issue? We had some problems with had to be delt with on a card by card basis (for a while ALL nvidia cards were being butts about the issue). Can you go to your GalCiv2 game folder and post your debug.err file? We can see if we can reproduce your system specs in the office and reproduce the problem.

Thanks!

Instead of alt-tabbing, how about hitting ALT+ENTER to change to windowed mode? Then you can hit ALT+ENTER again when you want to go back to playing the game. For some strange reason this method often switches quicker on my computer than alt-tabbing does, and that goes for many games.

Yeah turns out its just incredibly slow, but works fine... it would come up not responding but after a couple of minutes works .....
