How to maximize score?

Just wondering the best strategy for maximizing score. Would I get a better score by ending the game at 1st opportunity for an alliance/influence victory? Or would I score more by keeping the game going by declaring war and conquering the civs that I could ally with? Does the score go down the longer it takes to win, or does it go up over time as more techs are researched?

Hi!
As it seems now it is mostly related to size of the universe (gigantic preferably) and the lenght of the game: the longer it lasts, the more score you get. 've read posts from two top players having games with more than one milion score by just pressing next turn several hundred times after they've practically won.

Jeez and I was worried about cheesing my score by reloading after screwing something up

This was double posted, on the other post Frogboy said this:

Your score is divided by the number of turns it takes.

So I would assume that this would only work if your score was going up each turn by enough to offset the extra turn. And as the number of turns get large each extra turn takes off less. But what factors make it go up and to what extent? I'd guess unspent bc accumulating in treasury would be what caused the high scores in your example. Maybe cranking out droves of ships to rally points to build a huge military would raise it too.

While I was playing non-metaverse games II usually got bored and restarted new game once it became obvious I was going to win and when I did finish it, I didnt pay attention to the score. My 1st Meta game I restarted when Beta came out, and now in my second Meta-game I'm at the point now where its obvious I'm going to win. My fleets could trash anything in galaxy even without their 160% wep/def bonuses. So do I now turn from my path of neutrality and slaughter my neighbors just for more points?

Also, if you save a meta-game, win, post score, can you go back to the save and finish it another way? And if you did go back and go for conquest victory after getting diplomatic or influence before would it post the second score from the same meta-game?

I... er... did that before.

I saved one turn before a technology victory. Then I won. Then submitted. Then I reloaded and won via a Conquest victory. Then submitted.

Dude, I played a game on tough in a medium galaxy, going for a tech victory (4 turns away) when I won culturally. My score - 900. I was speechless. My tiny/tough game got 15000!

Yeah, I dunno. I won a cultural victory on Small with 2 AIs, and got 13,000 points. Then I won a conquest victory against 4 AIs on Challenging, and got 7000 points. Can't help ya
