Precursor Tech Ships

So in the game I'm currently playing, the Yor received a Ranger. I've tried destroying it and I've created a ship using the most cutting edge technology I have to try to counter it. However, I cannot destroy it and it keeps getting experience. I even have the other groups at war with the Yor just to see if that would help. How can I beat them? Should I try sneaking ships and transports in to take their planets? I have basically no money because they have destroyed my economy. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

Well, if you had saved some money and kept up relations you could have bought it from them or traded for it....that's worked for me in the past. Especially if you plan on invading them....remember "keep your friends close but your enemies closer". I had a rival find 2 of those bad boys luckily my civ had shrewd diplomatic skills and I was able to convince them to trade them to me. I didn't really need the ships I just didn't want them to have them.

Probably too late for this tactic in your current game but it's something to consider in future games.

A Ranger really isn't all that tough. It's only defense is armor. No shields, no point defense. So you go at it with ships that are heavy on beams and missiles, because mass drivers won't be as effective. Disruptors or even phasors will take it out just fine.
