Serial Number

I bought my copy of GCII in the US. The game installs fine off the CD. I've downloaded Stardock central. I then try to download the game patch but it tells me my Serial number is "invalid". Am I missing something? I've emailed support but haven't heard back yet. I can't download 1.0X because of hte "invalid" serial number.

Things that are not the cause of the problem:
- It is not the collectors addition.
- It is not a european copy with messed up serial #s.
- I am able to read and copy the serial # correctly.


Suggestions?

Just expanding the information:

If you are in Europe, have the English retail box from Paradox and only have a serial number beginning with "GC2-" then click here to obtain the correct serial number

If you have purchased the Italian version then click here to obtain a fixed serial number (the Italian distributer only printed part of the serial number).
