Stardock=No support

E-mailed Stardock because I could not run the game after installing the beta.it wanted to connect to the internet to "register" my game.Bought the store version of it and the gaming computer is not connected to the internet so had to do a reinstall.The install program said you needed the cd key and said nothing about having to be connected to the internet. Stardock did not bother to respond.Where is all this great support I keep hearing about?

Starforce never damaged my computer in any way other than being a pain in the butt.I don't like it but it's far less draconion than this fouled up system.

Do you even know what draconion means? They are giving youFREE stuff. You bought the 1.0 version of the game. It works. The beta and all the other extra content is all a gift from them. Be grateful. It only took Frogboy 48 minutes to respond to your post. Can you honestly name one other company that responds that quick? I once waited two weeks for Valve to respond to an issue. Even 24 hours is still a fairly short wait for this stuff.

I've had my share of trouble with the German release of the game, but Stardock did respond to the matter within a very realistic and quick time frame, as did Paradox, the European distributor. Stardock's system allowed me to simply download a full US copy of the game, using the serial number that came with my purchased game, which was an immediate and welcome solution. I don't know any other company who would have given me this opportunity without having to pay a second time, sending in the CDs, or other hassles. The response time was also very fast. So, personally, I have no complaints about the support.

Your full of it Empyrean.Starforce never damaged my computer in any way other than being a pain in the butt.I don't like it but it's far less draconion than this fouled up system. I'm being shafted for running the game on a non-internet computer. .And you should read the download instrutions for the beta before shooting off your big mouth because it doesn't say anything about having to be connected to the internet. Because it's ok for YOU in your little Stardock fanboy world doesn't mean it's ok with everyone else.Grow up!

You're not being shafted by anyone but yourself. You decided to try an unsupported beta on a special education computer (one without an internet connection) with a company that pretty much exclusively works off the net via Stardock. Just play the regular version until 1.1 is released. No internet needed. I wish all your computers had no internet; would save us some pain and misery.

I'm with the rest of the people here...Top notch support. I bought this game on word of mouth, and was then shocked to the core to find out that it was an indie company. This final product was much more polished than a lot of others I have purchased over the years.

And you should read the download instrutions for the beta before shooting off your big mouth because it doesn't say anything about having to be connected to the internet.

Well, they do make it clear if you poke around the site a bit. Stated above, the Beta is at-your-own-risk. Plus, go read the post about piracy. They actually say, "What we do is provide a serial # that users can choose to enter when they install and use that unique serial # to download free and frequent updates." Right there, they tell you that you need the key for the updates.

Because it's ok for YOU in your little Stardock fanboy world doesn't mean it's ok with everyone else.Grow up!

Before you tell everyone else to grow up, please take a moment and look at your approach: You had thread title that was--let's face it--looking for a fight. Then, you went on to flame everybody from the top down at Stardock. This is going to tick people off.

I see this all the time in the software company that I work for. People seem to think that if they make a lot of noise, act rude and combative, and just generally threaten to take their business else-where, that it will get them better service. You know what? It doesn't. Why spend the time and resources to fix a problem for a person who already said that they aren't coming back? It's not worth it. Frogboy didn't even need to give you the response that he did.

I personally think that negative feedback is more important than positive. Positive tells you that you're going in the right direction and makes you feel good. Negative, on the other hand, shows you where you can improve next time. That said, I think that you were right to post your experience on this site, but wrong in your methods. Next time, try a title like "Stardock Support Problem," and then a post like, "I installed the beta and never knew that I needed a key. Stardock should make that more obvious BEFORE I download the software. Also, I don't feel that they have addressed my concerns well enough."

I'm willing to bet that will get you a lot less flames.

Bottom line: Stardock does not have to give us Betas. Stardock CERTAINLY doesn't have to give us full-fledged, game changing ugrade Betas a month after the game hit the shelves. Further more, it's a Beta--most people feel Beta = Bugs. That's why companies don't support them.

This is not a "fanboy" response. Stardock has gone above and beyond in all aspects of this game. Take a breath, reinstall the game and go kick some Drengin butt. Otherwise, just return the game, and don't buy anything else from Stardock

I'd say to go with option A--it's a game, have some fun.
